Tomorrow, Jan. 13th, 2026, affordable housing advocates will unite at our Capital in Frankfort, Ky for HOUSING WORKS day. Advocates, families, and supporters will be in attendance to meet and network with each other as well as our elected Congressional leaders to support those Kentuckians we serve and are in need of simple, decent and affordable housing! During the day we will attend a press conference by the KY clock, lunch together and spread the word about the need for more affordable housing! Think about us tomorrow and say a prayer that people listen and that we can make a major difference for all the Kentucky adults and children that need our help. Spread the word that HOUSING WORKS for better health, jobs, education, nutrition, community, rest and happiness. In reality, HOUSING WORKS and makes everything in life better! Join Habitat in bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope! We need your support!

Kentucky households can apply for LIHEAP Crisis from January 6 to March 27, 2026, to help with heating emergencies during the colder months.

Eligible households with income up to 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and experiencing a heating crisis may qualify for assistance. This program covers heating costs for electric, natural gas, propane, coal, wood, or fuel oil. Benefits are paid directly to the energy vendor, and a disconnect notice, past-due bill, or eviction notice is required to apply.

Assistance received during previous LIHEAP components does not affect eligibility. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Contact your local Community Action Agency to apply. To find your local outreach office, visit capky.org/network.

Because of The Home Depot Foundation, we are able to help veterans with critical home repairs allowing them to age in place.
Projects include roof and window repairs, insulation and weather stripping, plus many safety and accessibility upgrades like wheelchair ramps, and bathroom renovations to accommodate disabled veterans.
We recently completed a repair for Donald Wright, a Vietnam War Army Veteran. Don serves as Commander of AMVets Post 110, and also has mobility challenges due to Parkinson's. We were able to replace the tub/shower combo in his home with a low entry shower, allowing him ease of access to utilize the shower. These repairs enable Don and his wife Brenda to stay in their house to age in place.
