Juneteenth Gathering in Nolensville!

This gathering is centered on connection, celebration, and honoring the rich history of Historic Sunset Park. During segregation, the park served as a vibrant gathering space where families came together for picnics, baseball games, recreation, and fellowship. It was home to entrepreneurs like Jim and Ben Chrismon and welcomed notable figures such as Theodore β€œTed” Rhodes, the nation’s first Black professional golfer, who practiced on its three-hole course. The park also helped shape athletes like Woodrow Williams, who went on to play professionally.

While the park has not been actively used for decades, its significance remains. This event reintroduces that legacy, bringing people together once again across generations and backgrounds to celebrate freedom, community, and shared history.

Reconciliation and Oneness with Dr. JP Foster

In a divided world, the gospel calls us to something deeper- to see one another, listen well, & pursue the peace that Christ has already won

Most reconciliation conversations in the church start in the middle β€” with unity as the goal but no real reckoning with how the divide got so deep. Dr. JP Foster starts somewhere different. He starts with history, with truth, and with a faith that was never meant to separate us in the first place.

Join Dr. JP Foster for a conversation on reconciliation, moderated by Dr. John Faison of Watson Grove Baptist Church Nashville, and hosted by Otter Creek Church.

Dr. JP Foster will draw from his new book, The Gospel and My Black Skin to share:

● Why reconciliation in the church requires an honest confrontation with history before anything else

● How Christianity was weaponized to oppress Black people β€” and what it means to separate that distortion from the truth of the Gospel

● The African roots of Christianity that most believers have never encountered β€” and why reclaiming that story changes the reconciliation conversation entirely

In a divided world, the gospel calls us to something deeper- to see one another, listen well, & pursue the peace that Christ has already won
