Mason was one of our 2025 ‘Rise Up’ Scholarship Winners. He attends Drake University, studying Law, politics, and society and sociology with a minor in creative writing. We caught up with him about his favorite freshman year memory!

“I made it on the deans list my first semester, and I am still wrapping up finals for my second semester! I joined the social fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon as well as getting myself involved politically on campus. My favorite memory was winning a synchronized swimming competition called “anchor splash” with my fraternity brothers last semester!”

Emerson was one of our 2025 ‘Rise Up’ Scholarship Winners. She attended Auburn University and we caught up with her about her favorite freshman year memory!

“This year could not have been more fruitful. One of my favorite memories from freshman year was fall semester, I was given the opportunity to tour a news station in Birmingham as the only Auburn representative. I got to practice cuts, see behind the scenes of creating, and hear about possible internship and job opportunities! My major is broadcast journalism so I absolutely LOVED it. It was the coolest experience!”

Introducing our first “Be The Light” Scholarship Winner of 2026, Olivia Bendorf! Olivia is graduating from Centennial High School and will be attending Samford University in the fall. She will be majoring Sports Psychology and is most excited to “meet new people who will help me strengthen my faith and experience a new learning environment.” We are so excited for you, Olivia! Go shine your light 💛✨
