Thanks to a 2025 AHR Art Enrichment grant, Clint Robinson at Heard County High School challenged students to think critically about the role of AI in art.

Students learned how to properly light and capture portrait photography, then wrote detailed descriptions of their images and asked AI to recreate them. Even with careful attention to lighting, features, and composition, the results rarely matched the original.

The project became an eye-opening lesson on the difference between human creativity and artificial generation. It also sparked new ideas beyond the art room, with English teachers excited to use the concept to help students visualize scenes and characters from literature.

Pictured are student-created caricatures of Heard County High School teachers, showcasing the creativity and humor that emerged throughout the project.

Congratulations to our partners at Heard County Fire & Emergency Services for this new, improved rating! Not only are they hard at work protecting our community, they are always reliable partners in collaboration! So thankful for all you do!!

Dear Citizens of Heard County,
Heard County Fire & Emergency Services is proud to share important news with our community. Our Insurance Services Office (ISO) Public Protection Classification was a 05/5X and has now improved to a 04/4X, effective July 2026.

We want to explain what this means in a clear and simple way. The ISO rating is a national classification that evaluates how well a fire department can respond to fires and protect its community. This review looks at areas such as our training, equipment, water supply, emergency communications, staffing, and overall preparedness. A lower number is better, so moving from a 05/5X to a 04/4X reflects a significant improvement in the level of fire protection provided to the citizens of Heard County.

For our citizens, this change may be beneficial when it comes to insurance. It is also important to understand that properties located more than five (5) road miles from a recognized fire station will receive a Class 10 rating, which is the highest classification. This is based on ISO guidelines regarding distance from a responding fire station and water supply availability. Many insurance companies use ISO ratings as one factor when determining fire insurance premiums. While every insurance provider is different, this improved classification could possibly help with insurance rates for some residents. We encourage citizens to contact their insurance company to see how this update may affect their individual policy once it goes into effect July 2026.

This achievement did not happen overnight. It is the result of years of hard work, detailed record keeping, ongoing training, equipment maintenance and improvements, and a continued commitment to strengthening and improving fire protection services throughout Heard County. This improved classification reflects the dedication, countless hours of work, and ongoing efforts of our personnel, along with Heard County 911, Heard County Water Authority, and the continued support of Heard County leadership.

Most importantly, this improved ISO rating represents stronger fire protection, improved preparedness, and a continued commitment to the safety of the citizens of Heard County. We are proud of this accomplishment and will continue working every day to serve and protect our community.

Thank you for your continued support of Heard County Fire & Emergency Services. It is an honor to serve the citizens of Heard County.

Sincerely,
Heard County Fire & Emergency Services
