This week the Heard County Community Partnership Collaborative has mourned the passing of our friend, colleague and community champion, Mr. Mike Nolley. Mike devoted his life to loving and serving others. He was a weekly volunteer at Heard County Food Pantry where he packed thousands of food boxes, delivered weekend backpack bags to schools and managed the recycling needs of the pantry for many years.

We are humbled to join Mike’s family in honoring his life of service by accepting donations of food for the Heard County Food Pantry.
The family kindly asks that all who come to his memorial service, and are able, to bring a canned or shelf-stable food item to donate.

The service will be Saturday, September 12th at First Baptist Church Franklin, with family visitation from 12:00-2:00 and memorial following.

Southwire's annual Back to School supply giveaway is coming up Saturday, July 18, from 9 A.M. to noon at Midway Church in Villa Rica, Ga. 🍎✏️

This year, Southwire will give away more than 30,000 bags of free school supplies across its communities, with nearly 5,000 of those bags allocated to the west Georgia area.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐄𝐬)

Thanks to a Community Impact Grant, the Heard Educational Rewards of Excellence (HEROEs) program provided meaningful incentives to students across all five Heard County Schools, encouraging positive behaviors and academic success from kindergarten through 12th grade.

These rewards served as powerful motivators. Students participating in attendance intervention efforts specifically identified HEROEs incentives as a reason they worked to improve their attendance.

By meeting students where they are and celebrating their progress, the HEROEs program is helping create a culture of encouragement and achievement across Heard County Schools.

Thanks to a 2025 AHR Art Enrichment grant, Clint Robinson at Heard County High School challenged students to think critically about the role of AI in art.

Students learned how to properly light and capture portrait photography, then wrote detailed descriptions of their images and asked AI to recreate them. Even with careful attention to lighting, features, and composition, the results rarely matched the original.

The project became an eye-opening lesson on the difference between human creativity and artificial generation. It also sparked new ideas beyond the art room, with English teachers excited to use the concept to help students visualize scenes and characters from literature.
