Thom has been supporting the needs of young children and their families for over 100 years.

Thom Child and Family Services works with over 15,000 infants, toddlers, and families throughout Massachusetts – providing critical Early Intervention and related services. Our dedicated occupational and physical therapists, social workers, nurses, speech-language pathologists, educators, counselors and other specialists are committed to working collaboratively with families, child care providers, and other professionals to facilitate each individual child’s development. Thom Worcester Area Early Intervention Announces Above and Beyond Clinician Recognition Recipient

Thom Worcester Area Early Intervention is excited to announce Amanda Smith, Occupational Therapist, as the newest recipient of our program's Above and Beyond Clinician Recognition Award!
Since joining Thom in June 2025, Amanda has become a valued resource for her colleagues and the children and families we serve. She consistently goes above and beyond to share her expertise, provide thoughtful OT consultations, and support fellow clinicians.
With a strong foundation in Sensory Integration Theory, Amanda brings an individualized, family-centered approach to her work. She is especially skilled in supporting children with sensory processing differences, offering practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines and activities.

Amanda has pursued specialized training in several areas, including:
• Sensory Processing & Feeding: Uses her training in sensory processing and the SOS Approach to Feeding to support children's participation in daily activities and mealtime routines.
• Fine Motor Development: Supports foundational fine motor skills, coordination, body awareness, and learning through play.
• Engagement & Interaction: Uses relationship-based, play-focused strategies to encourage children's engagement and connection with caregivers.

Amanda is also committed to ongoing professional growth. Following her attendance at the 2025 Massachusetts Association for Occupational Therapy (MAOT) Conference, she is collaborating with colleagues on a presentation proposal about torticollis for the May 2027 Massachusetts Early Intervention Consortium (MEIC) Conference.

Thank you, Amanda, for your dedication, collaborative spirit, and willingness to share your expertise! We are grateful for the many ways you go above and beyond to support your colleagues and the children and families we serve!
