Honoring 50 Years of IDEA

On June 3, members of Thom Child & Family Services leadership teams from across the state attended a special celebration at the Massachusetts State House honoring the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, known as IDEA.
Hosted by the Massachusetts Early Intervention Division and the Massachusetts Early Intervention Consortium, the event recognized the lasting impact of IDEA and the essential role Early Intervention plays in supporting infants, toddlers, and families across the Commonwealth.
As the largest Early Intervention provider in Massachusetts, Thom was proud to be represented at this meaningful statewide celebration. We remain deeply committed to providing family-centered, relationship-based services that help children learn, grow, and thrive in their everyday routines and communities.
Thank you to the families, providers, legislators, and partners who came together to celebrate this important milestone.

Healthy development begins in relationships.

Everyday moments between caregivers and children help build the foundation for healthy development.
At Thom Child & Family Services, supporting the parent-child relationship has always been central to our work.
As an agency, we are deepening our investment in early relational health through relationship-based practice, reflective learning, and our journey with FAN, Facilitating Attuned Interactions. This work strengthens what Early Intervention has always understood: connection, attunement, and trust are at the heart of helping children and families thrive.

Thom Springfield Infant Toddler Services (SITS) was out in the community this past weekend, bringing a whole lot of fun to a beloved local tradition. On Saturday, May 16, our team proudly participated in The World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast, connecting with families and neighbors from across the area.

The massive annual event brought together thousands of people for a morning filled with delicious breakfast, live music, vibrant entertainment, and a showcase of wonderful community resources.

While the pancakes were the main event, the SITS booth was the go-to spot for the youngest attendees.

Highlights from our booth included:

Interactive Toddler Games: Tailored activities that kept little hands busy and big smiles flowing.
Community Connections: A chance for parents and caregivers to chat with our staff and learn more about SITS resources.
The Ultimate Storytime Raffle: One lucky family walked away with a specially curated “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” gift basket, inspired by the classic children’s book.
We had a wonderful time celebrating with our community and seeing so many familiar and new faces. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to play, chat, and support our mission.

We already can’t wait for next year.

Natalia, an Occupational Therapist (OT), brings deep dedication to every family she serves — ensuring each one feels supported, respected, and truly understood. Her practice is rooted in a strengths-based approach, empowering families by recognizing and building upon their unique abilities and resilience.
What sets Natalia apart is her extraordinary gift for connection. She cultivates meaningful relationships with families and colleagues alike, creating an environment of trust, collaboration, and lasting positive outcomes. Her compassionate, thoughtful approach leaves a mark on everyone she works with.
That impact extends beyond her direct work with families. Her OT colleagues at Tufts University have nominated her for the Outstanding Fieldwork Educator and Mentor Award — a testament to the significant difference she is making in clinical education and the next generation of OT practitioners. She will be honored for this achievement at NEOTEC's (New England Occupational Therapy Education Council) Annual Conference on June 2nd.
