Last week, we held our annual Academic Awards. In addition to celebrating many students' academic successes, we were thrilled to present the Seal of Biliteracy to three students for the very first time. Congratulations to Peyton, Kevin, and Carter for achieving this incredible accomplishment! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

The State Seal of Biliteracy award recognizes high school graduates who attain high functional and academic levels of proficiency in English and a world language in recognition of having studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. The achievement takes the form of a seal that appears on the transcript or diploma of the graduating senior and is a statement of accomplishment for future employers and for college admissions.πŸ…

Spotlight on: Our fabulous Transition Department! πŸ’« We empower our high school students with real-world internship experiences that build transferable skills and confidence.

Recent TLC Graduate Jean shows off his skills at Saxonville Mills Cafe & Roastery , where he created coffee drinks, supported staff, and helped prepare coffee beans for packaging. We are thankful for partners like Saxonville for their support of TLC, our programs, and our students!

Raising a deaf or hard of hearing child comes with questions β€” and you do not have to navigate the journey alone. Through the Badavas Parent Infant Program, families of deaf and hard of hearing children receive support, resources, playgroups, and guidance focused on ASL, communication access, and early learning. πŸ’™

TLC hosted it's first Agency Expo earlier this month, and we'd like to thank all the community organizations and agencies who participated. The goal was to provide a connection between these organizations, our students, and our staff to share resources and information.

Did You Know? ... All staff interpreters in the TLC Interpreting Department are EIPA-qualified in the state of Massachusetts. This means that each staff interpreter has met the state’s qualification requirements and is approved to work independently in the classroom. πŸ“š

This milestone reflects our team’s dedication to maintaining high professional standards and ensuring that students have access to qualified interpreting support in their educational environments. Achieving EIPA qualification requires significant skill, preparation, and commitment, and we are proud of the effort our interpreters have invested in reaching this goal. 🌟
