While these terms are often used interchangeably, in Texas family law, the legal term is conservatorship. At their core, they all refer to the primary care and protection of a child.

When school is out, grocery bills often go up. But we’re grateful that we were able to provide some of our client families with pantry staples, fresh essentials like eggs and milk, and fun kid-friendly favorites to make summer a little easier.

Today's question: What's the difference between a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), Emergency Protective Order (EPO), and final Protective Order (PO)?

TRO- short-term order stating the do's and don't's while a family law case is pending.
EPO- orders filed after a family violence incident with criminal implications if violated.
PO- long-term protection from family violence.

School's out for summer! Although it should be a fun and relaxing time for kids, the reality is that many will be food insecure while on school breaks. MJM experiences an increase in requests for our Safe Home Program during the summer months. This program helps lessen the burdens for our amazing caregivers through emergency financial assistance including rent, utilities, and other basic needs.
