🏁 WHY WE WALK WEDNESDAY! 💙💛

This week, we're taking a look back at this past Saturday's 2026 Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk!

From the smiles and laughter to the incredible support from our community, it was a day to remember!

💙 Why do we walk? For inclusion, acceptance, awareness, and most importantly, for the amazing individuals with Down syndrome who bring us all together!

A HUGE thank you to all of our families, teams, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this year's Walk so special. We couldn't do it without YOU!

Ethan had an amazing time yesterday job shadowing at Cavender's. This is just part of what we are doing during Down Syndrome Awareness Month to raise awareness of the potential of all people with Down syndrome. Cavender's has been supporting DSPNT for years and we appreciate them allowing us to bring this program into one of their stores.
This is just one of the programs supported by our Step Up for Down Syndrome walk which just happens to be tomorrow! Come celebrate with us as we raise money and awareness for the Down syndrome community!

Make sure you get everything completed before the deadline so you’re ready to go for Walk Day tomorrow!

A few reminders before you head out:
✓ Make sure everyone attending is registered

A 2024 study describing 15 years of inclusive employment reported that coworkers developed a greater understanding of disability and “took pride” in their department's inclusive employment efforts. They also reported personal growth in their ability to collaborate and gratitude for the skills they gained working with people with different learning needs. (PubMed Central, November 2024)

Lauren has been working at DSPNT since 2018, taking a brief break to complete a certificate program at Texas A&M. She has made presentations to over 3,000 during her time at DSPNT.
