Here's an AI recap of 2026-27 USBC rule changes.

For the 2026–2027 season, the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) has implemented important updates focusing on equipment identification standards, ongoing urethane/slow oil-absorbing ball specifications, and preparations for an upcoming shift to digital membership cards. You can review the complete 2026–2027 USBC Rulebook directly on BOWL.com.

Bowling Ball Identification and Re-Engraving

**No Re-Engraving Identification Markings: Effective January 1, 2027, ball markings and serial numbers required for identification purposes may not be re-engraved.

**Competition Restriction: Balls with re-engraved or unidentifiable serial numbers, brand names, or original ball names will be prohibited in certified competitions after this date.

Urethane and Slow Oil-Absorbing Ball Regulations

**78D Hardness Standards: Strict hardness specifications continue for urethane and slow oil-absorbing equipment in national and high-tier events. Urethane balls manufactured before August 1, 2022, remain banned from national tournaments, and select major competitions enforce even tighter limitations or outright bans on specific urethane models.

Transition to Digital Membership Cards2026–2027

**Transition Season: The USBC is utilizing this season to transition away from physical mailers.

**Fully Digital Future: Starting in the 2027–2028 season, the organization will stop mailing printed membership cards entirely, encouraging members to use digital cards via the BOWL.com Mobile App or print their own cards online.

BOWL.com is the interactive home for USBC, the national governing body of bowling. We’re a membership organization that provides standardized rules, regulations and benefits to make bowling fair and fun for everyone.
