Thank you Florida Home Builders Association for your support!

Through our close collaboration with Volunteer Florida, 1,000 tarps have been delivered to FHBA Chair-Elect Alton Lister’s office for distribution to FHBA members impacted by Hurricane Isaias.

We are grateful to Volunteer Florida for their partnership and commitment to helping our building industry recover, and to our leaders in West Florida helping coordinate these efforts on the ground.

As our communities begin the recovery process, FHBA remains committed to supporting our members and helping Florida rebuild stronger.

As a reminder, during storm recovery, be sure to use a licensed and insured professional contractor to work on your home!

From the City of Fort Walton Beach

Effective immediately, the City of Fort Walton Beach will waive fees on permits pulled for the repair of fences damaged by Hurricane Isaias.

The waiver applies only to the repair of hurricane-damaged fences, not new fence construction. The fee waiver does not apply to any other permits issued by the city: accessory structures, demolition, electrical, driveway, home repair/improvement, etc.

How it works.

Simply apply for your permit at the City’s MGO permit portal, noting that the permit request is for hurricane repair. Your permit will be reviewed by our staff, and an invoice generated for your permit through MGO. We’ll waive the fees collected by city, you’ll pay only the state permit fees (appx. $4 per permit).

OUR COMMUNITIES ARE STRONGER TOGETHER

As Okaloosa and Walton Counties continue recovering from Hurricane Isaias, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible people helping our communities get back on their feet.

A special thank you to two of our valued BIA members, Florida Power & Light (FPL) and Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative, Inc. , and their dedicated employees, lineworkers, support teams, and additional crews who have traveled from near and far to help restore power to our communities.

We know many families and businesses are still without electricity, and we sincerely appreciate the long hours and tireless efforts being made to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

We also extend our gratitude to our first responders, emergency personnel, local businesses, contractors, volunteers, and neighbors helping neighbors.

Recovery is far from over for many in our communities, but it's during challenging times like these that we're reminded of the strength, generosity, and resilience of the people who call Okaloosa and Walton Counties home.
