This is what it looks like when a church says, “We want to help.”

We’re so thankful for Life Chapel for joining Baskets of Blessings this year and collecting food to help provide Thanksgiving meals for families in our community.

This outreach only works because churches, businesses, organizations, and families decide to take part in it together.

One box gets filled. Then another. Then another.

And before long, those donations become Thanksgiving meals sitting on tables across DeKalb and Etowah Counties.

Thank you, Life Chapel, for opening your doors, getting your church family involved, and helping us serve neighbors this Thanksgiving.

MEN’S HYGIENE PRODUCTS NEEDED.

This may not be the first thing people think about when they think of donating, but these items leave our shelves quickly.

Many of the men we serve are trying to get back to work, attend appointments, enter recovery, or simply get through a difficult season with some dignity.

Right now, we especially need:

• Deodorant
• Body wash
• Shampoo
• Razors and shaving cream
• Toothpaste and toothbrushes

If you’re at Walmart, Dollar General, or the grocery store this week, would you grab one extra men’s hygiene item for Marked For Life?

It doesn’t have to be expensive. If enough of us grab one thing, we can refill these shelves pretty quickly.

Help us stock the basics so the men we serve can focus on taking their next step forward.

Etowah County, we’re thankful to have another community partner stepping up for Baskets of Blessings!

This month, Jake Leath with COUNTRY Financial has chosen to give back by partnering with Marked For Life Ministries to help provide Thanksgiving meals for families across Etowah County.

Baskets of Blessings works because people throughout our community decide to do their part. Businesses open their doors. Churches get involved. Families give. Volunteers show up. And together, we make sure our neighbors have the opportunity to gather around a Thanksgiving table.

We’re grateful to Jake for using his business as a place where our community can come together and help feed the hungry this Thanksgiving.

This isn’t just a place to sleep. The Hope House is a long-term, Christ-centered program focused on recovery, stability, responsibility, employment, healthy relationships, and preparing men to live independently again.

Earlier this summer, the team at Heil Environmental / ESG Cares chose Marked For Life as the beneficiary of their Father’s Day fundraiser, raising $791 for the ministry.

We’re always grateful when a local business decides to turn something happening inside their workplace into an opportunity to serve people in the community.

That gift helps support the work happening every day through Marked For Life, from crisis response and food assistance to the Hope House and the other programs serving individuals and families in need.

Baskets of Blessings is back, and today you can officially be part of it.

For us, this has never just been about handing someone a turkey.

It’s about a mom or dad taking a basket home, preparing Thanksgiving dinner in their own kitchen, and gathering their family around the table.

It’s about making sure a difficult season doesn’t have to mean an empty Thanksgiving table.

And the beautiful thing is that Marked For Life doesn’t do this alone.

Churches host collection boxes. Businesses get their employees involved. Families give toward meals. Volunteers show up to sort, pack, load, deliver, and serve. Hundreds of people come together, each doing their part, so families across DeKalb and Etowah Counties can celebrate Thanksgiving at home.

Starting today, registration is open for all the ways you can get involved in Baskets of Blessings 2026.

You can host a collection box at your church, business, school, or workplace.

You can volunteer and help us prepare and distribute hundreds of Thanksgiving baskets.

You can give, with $49 providing a complete Thanksgiving meal for a family of six.

Or you can simply help us spread the word and invite somebody else to get involved.

This year, our vision is to provide Thanksgiving for 450 families, approximately 2,700 of our neighbors.

But Baskets of Blessings is bigger than a number.

It’s hundreds of people coming together to make sure there’s room at the table for somebody else.

And there’s a place for you in it.

Recovery Month ends today. Recovery doesn’t.

All month long, we’ve had the privilege of sharing stories from people who know what recovery looks like firsthand.

Different stories. Different struggles. Different timelines.

But one thing we see over and over again is that recovery is so much more than simply putting down drugs or alcohol.

It’s rebuilding trust. Going back to work. Learning responsibility. Repairing relationships. Finding healthy ways to deal with the hard days. Getting your own place. Smiling again.

And for us, at the center of it all is Jesus.

Tomorrow the calendar will say October, but the work continues. Men will still wake up at the Hope House and choose recovery. Families will still be praying for someone they love. And someone, somewhere, will finally decide they’re ready to ask for help.

If that person is you, you don’t have to figure out the first step alone.

What a night.

Last night, friends and partners from across our community gathered for our 2026 Fall Vision Dinner to celebrate what God has done and hear the vision for what’s ahead at Marked For Life Ministries.

We shared stories of lives being changed, families finding hope, men walking through recovery, and neighbors being met in some of the hardest moments of their lives.

We also looked ahead to what’s next: feeding 2,500 neighbors across DeKalb and Etowah Counties this Thanksgiving, preparing to provide refuge through our Warming Station this winter, and creating more room for restoration at the Hope House.

But more than anything, last night was about people.

Behind every crisis call, meal, night of shelter, recovery story, baptism, and fresh start is a name. A story. A person created by God who deserves to know that their life still has purpose.

To everyone who attended, served, prayed, gave, or made a commitment to partner with us in the year ahead, thank you. And to our staff, volunteers, Board, table hosts, and everyone who helped make last night possible, thank you for continuing to show up and serve our neighbors so well.

We believe God has given Marked For Life an incredible opportunity to continue bringing hope to people across Northeast Alabama.

Sometimes the best ideas start with a 10-year-old. ❤️

Meet Charlie.

Earlier this summer, Charlie told her mom she wanted to start something she calls “The Giving Club” to collect food and other essentials for families in our community.

When their family ended up with some extra shelf-stable food, Charlie’s first thought was to donate it.

So she brought it to Marked For Life.

We love this because helping people doesn’t always have to start with something huge. Sometimes it starts with noticing what you have, seeing a need, and deciding to do something about it.

Charlie, thank you for reminding all of us that you’re never too young to make a difference.

There are some people around Marked For Life who have their hands in just about everything, and Jim is definitely one of them.

Jim is one of our core volunteers and leads our maintenance department. He came to us with years of experience and has used that experience to help us solve problems, build things, repair things, and keep our facilities moving forward.

He also served as the main project manager during the Hope House project, helping take that building from an idea to a place where men are now rebuilding their lives.

And that’s really just one piece of what he does.

If something needs fixed, built, moved, figured out, or somebody simply needs an extra set of hands, there’s a pretty good chance Jim has been involved somewhere along the way. He also manages all this and still serves our neighbors weekly at the Hope Center!

People often see the programs and the stories that come out of Marked For Life, but there are people behind the scenes making sure those programs actually have places to operate and the tools they need to serve well.

Jim is one of those people.

We’re incredibly thankful for the time, experience, and countless hours he has given to this ministry.

Thank you, Jim, for continuing to show up and serve.
