We had a great evening at Trick or Treat on the Square in Trenton tonight. Pretty sure that was the most kids ever. As usual, It was a lot of fun and we gave out lots of candy. Mobile Sensory Station

💜 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DOESN'T JUST HURT THE PERSON BEING ABUSED. IT HURTS THE CHILDREN WHO LIVE WITH IT.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we want our communities to remember one important truth:

A child does not have to be the target of violence to carry its trauma.

Children exposed to domestic violence may witness the abuse, hear the threats, or live in constant fear of what might happen next. Even behind closed doors, children often see, hear, and feel more than we realize.

This trauma can affect their emotional well-being, sense of safety, relationships, and development. Domestic violence can also occur alongside child abuse, placing children at even greater risk.

At the Children's Advocacy Center of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, we serve children and non-offending caregivers impacted by abuse throughout Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, and Walker Counties. Through forensic interviews, trauma-informed counseling, family advocacy, and community partnerships, we help provide a path toward hope and healing.

Domestic violence isn't just an adult issue. It's a childhood issue. A family issue. A community issue.

This October, look beyond the visible bruises. Recognize the children suffering silently, support survivors, and help break the cycle.
