Sexual assault doesn't "just happen." It is a choice made by an offender—and that means it is 100% preventable.

Too often, conversations about s*xual assault focus on what victims should do to protect themselves. Prevention starts with holding offenders accountable, teaching respect, promoting healthy boundaries, and creating communities where consent is understood and valued.

We all have a role in prevention:
✔️ Teach and model respect.
✔️ Believe and support survivors.
✔️ Speak up when you witness harmful behavior.
✔️ Educate young people about consent and healthy relationships.
✔️ Challenge myths that excuse s*xual violence.

Together, we can build safer communities and work toward a future free from s*xual violence.

📊 69% of s*xual assault victims are between the ages of 12–34.
📊 Approximately 70% of r**e and s*xual assault survivors experience moderate to severe emotional distress.

These numbers are more than statistics—they represent our friends, family members, neighbors, coworkers, and community members.

What you were wearing.
What you drank.
Whether you knew the person.
How you responded.
How long it took you to tell someone.

None of these things invalidate s*xual assault.

There is no "perfect victim" and no "right way" to survive trauma. Every survivor's experience is valid, and every survivor deserves to be believed, supported, and treated with dignity.

If someone has trusted you with their story, listen without judgment. Believe them. Support them.
