Día de los Mu***os is a deeply meaningful Mexican tradition rooted in honoring and remembering loved ones who have passed away. It is a time for families and communities to celebrate their lives, preserve cherished memories, and recognize the lasting connection between generations.
In our Art Class, students and staff came together to honor this beautiful tradition by sharing photographs and special memories of their loved ones. Through this meaningful activity, we celebrated the importance of family, storytelling, cultural appreciation, and keeping the memories of those we love alive.
Traditional Día de los Mu***os celebrations include ofrendas (altars), photographs, candles, marigolds (cempasúchil), traditional foods, music, and family gatherings. November 1 is traditionally dedicated to children who have passed away, while November 2 honors adults.
Though every culture has its own traditions for remembering loved ones, the love and memories we carry are universal. We honor the past by keeping its stories alive and passing them on to future generations.
