🌲 Happy National Loggers Day!!

Today, October 12, we recognize the hardworking loggers who keep Georgia’s forest products industry moving.

From the woods to the mill, loggers are an essential link in our forest supply chain. Their skill, dedication, and commitment to responsible forest management help sustain our working forests, support rural communities, and provide the wood products we rely on every day.

Today, we’re celebrating some of Georgia’s outstanding logging professionals who have been recognized as Georgia Loggers of the Year. Thank you for the work you do for our forests, our industry, and our state!

Georgia Waives Dyed Diesel Penalties + Extends Fuel Tax Suspension

What you need to know:
🚜 Georgia will not impose state penalties for selling, delivering, or using off-road "dyed" diesel in on-road vehicles during the state of emergency.
🇺🇸 A federal executive order directs the IRS to waive federal penalties for on-road dyed diesel use from Oct. 5 through Dec. 31.
⛽ Georgia's motor fuel excise tax suspension is extended through Nov. 5.
🚛 The temporary increase in state truck weight limits on commercial vehicles remains in effect

The added relief comes as state and federal leaders respond to restricted diesel supply and rising fuel costs.

GFA is grateful to Governor Brian Kemp and our state's leaders for their commitment to our state and its citizens during this period of fuel supply disruptions.

✈️ Georgia’s forests can help fuel the future of aviation.

Today in Atlanta, the Georgia Forestry Association joined business, agriculture, aviation and research leaders to launch the Georgia Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition — working together to position Georgia as a leader in the emerging sustainable aviation fuel industry.

Georgia’s forestry community has a long history of innovation. Today, more than 5,000 products are made from trees — providing the materials we depend on every day for survival, comfort and progress.

For Georgia, that means the potential for healthier markets that support rural economies and help keep Georgia’s forests working.

With nearly 22 million acres of working forests, world-class manufacturing infrastructure and the renewable resources to support a growing bioeconomy, Georgia is uniquely positioned to help lead this conversation.

At GFA, we’re proud to bring all of Georgia’s forestry community to the table as our forests, farms, businesses and research institutions work together to explore what’s next.

Georgia’s forests are working for Georgia — and they can help fuel the future. 🌲✈️
