For more than a century, working forests have provided economic and environmental stability – and a myriad of benefits – to our state and its citizens. As Georgia continues to grow and change, it is important that we connect Georgia’s 10 million citizens to the 22 million acres of forestland that are critical to their survival, comfort and progress. The Georgia Forestry Foundation exists to sustain Georgia’s forests through funding and support of leadership development, policy studies and education to enhance the economic, environmental and community value of working forests for Georgia.

Most people think wood is only used to build single-family homes. But today wood is being used for high-rise buildings, schools, and apartments across Georgia. From Atlanta to Macon to Savannah, these projects use mass timber, engineered wood beams and panels where builders once used steel and concrete. Each one creates new demand for wood and new markets for the forests that grow it. GFF’s Mass Timber Collective is working to bring more of these projects to Georgia.

What do cell phones, a car tire, and a modern office building have in common? They all support working forests in Georgia.

Georgia's forests become thousands of products we use every day. Everyone of them depends on people. Landowners grow the trees, loggers harvest them, and manufacturers turn them into products.

That’s what Made from Georgia Forests is all about. When there’s demand for wood products, Georgia landowners keep growing trees and rural towns keep their jobs.

🌲MASS TIMBER CONTINUES TO BUILD IN GEORGIA 🦺

The Middle Regional Airport has officially begun construction on the HighNote Aviation Executive Terminal, pairing mass timber with a guitar design to honor the city's history in music as well as one of the state's leading industries!

Passero Architect, Chris Nardone, guided Georgia Forestry Foundation leadership and participants from the Georgia Mass Timber Accelerator on a tour of the site. Edged between two historical wartime hangars, the new terminal is the first of its kind in this region using locally-grown southern yellow pine and locally-sourced mass timber.

Macon-Bibb County Mayor, Lester Miller, joined the discussion on how Georgia continues to play a role in making history through innovation and courage. GFF featured the project at last year's Macon Mass Timber Hub.

Learn how Georgia's Forests Grow More Than Just Trees by stepping into what modern forestry looks like today and into the future!

Last week, Governor Brian Kemp and Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper celebrated Georgia growers with partners including the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the Georgia Rural Center, and the Georgia Forestry Commission. They invited everyone to experience homegrown innovation and the many products that come from Georgia's agriculture and forestry sectors.

Grateful to Governor and First Lady Kemp, the Georgia Forestry Commission, Georgia Forestry Association members, and everyone who contributed to support South Georgia communities impacted by this spring’s wildfires.

Through the Georgia Forestry Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund, our donors stepped up to provide matching funds for the Georgia Forestry Commission to deploy resources where they were needed most. Today’s $105,000 in grants to seven local fire departments will help support the men and women who stood on the front lines protecting lives, homes, and forests.

We’re proud to play a small role in helping these communities recover — and thankful for the generosity that made it possible.
