Congratulations to Cam Shaffer - our very own TJES gym supervisor for basketball season! Well deserved honor! Thank you for all of your hard work and for taking such good care of our players and their families.
Congratulations to Bedford's Best Recipient, Jefferson Forest High School’s, Cameron Shaffer!
Nomination: "He was a gym monitor at TJES during a rec basketball game. There was a traumatic injury and he handled the situation in a calm manner. He attended to the child, communicated with parents, and contacted emergency services for transport."
This nomination is a powerful example of the strength of partnership between our community and Bedford County Public Schools. During a recreational basketball game at TJES, a situation quickly escalated into a medical emergency. In that critical moment, Mr. Shaffer, who was serving as a gym monitor, demonstrated the very best of what it means to support our students beyond the classroom. Acting with calm, clarity, and compassion, he provided immediate care to the child, communicated effectively with family members, and ensured emergency services were contacted without delay. Because of individuals like Mr. Shaffer, our community has trust in our staff not only in the walls where they work, but in the communities they reach.
Bedford County Public Schools, in partnership with the Bedford Area Educational Foundation and Georgia-Pacific (Big Island), will be using our Bedford’s Best program to recognize two staff members a month in our school division who go above and beyond to make a difference in people’s lives every day.
Nominations can be made by anyone with first-hand knowledge of the work that our staff member is doing. To nominate someone, please click the link below. https://forms.gle/eUYGRbUR5vW2pGEk9
