What is an owner surrender?
There are many reasons why animals become available to rehome. It’s not always a bad situation. Sometimes a pet owner has to make the tough decision to rehome their fur baby. Maybe they can’t afford to take care of the animal. Feed costs and vet bills are outrageous. They have to make the difficult decision to prioritize themselves or family to make ends meet. To those people, we give All the respect. Our pets are family and having to decide to pay the BGE bill vs getting animal feed is heart wrenching. Some people have fallen ill. Between medical bills , doctor visits and lack of energy they make the courageous decision to find a new loving home. For others, their living situation has changed. Downsizing house, getting divorced, job relocation, going off to college are all reasons we have received inquiries to take a new baby. And yet still for others, dare I say, they are jerks. Scum of the earth, mistreating animals either with abuse or neglect. These animals that do not understand why they are being mistreated. All they want is to give and receive love. Thankfully those animals become available because of a brave soul that reported the heinous acts. So when we say we rescue or take in owner surrenders, next time keep in mind that most of the time, good people rehome their fur family for the well being of the animal and their family. Sometimes those people come back to visit their babies. Thank you to those that make that brave step to actively search for a new home rather than mistreat these innocent creatures.
Here are a few of our surrendered animals we are so lucky to call family now
