Oregon Coast Emergency Repeater Inc, a 501c3 was incorporated in Oregon on March 7,1985 it was established to foster emergency preparedness in the local communities, promote amateur radio education, mentoring, & fellowship by members of COCARC. un activities. The Central Oregon Coast Amateur Radio Club (COCARC) was incorporated in Oregon on March 7, 1985. The Club was established to foster emergency preparedness in the local communities and to promote and advocate amateur radio through education, mentoring, and fellowship. We have an active ARES organization with a membership of over a dozen full and associate members, led by our EC, Chris N7GYL. Our 2-meter repeater is a Kenwood TKR-750 on 146.800 MHz with a PL of 100.0 Hz, and our Digital UHF repeater is a Yaesu DR2-X on 442.575 MHz, with a DCS tone of 125, in AMS mode. We also have a Digital UHF DR2-X on Glenada Hill on 441.100 MHz, across the river, at 800 ft elevation. It is in AMS mode with DCS tone of 125 and connected to Wires-X. AMS means they can be operated either by Digital or Analog FM. The Glenada repeater is also linked to repeaters in Coos Bay and Eugene via IMRS. This is done digitally via Yaesu C4FM radios using the GM function. The first two repeaters are located on Herman Peak, 11 miles NNW of Florence at an elevation of 2000 feet. We have Winlink packet Digi on Herman Peak W7FLO-2 144.950 MHz. We also support a VaraFM RMS W7FLO-9 at 144.970 MHz on Glenada Hill, with a VaraFM Digi W7FLO-1 at 144.970 MHz on Herman Peak. This Digi gives access to the Glenada VaraFM RMS from points up and down the coast as well as the Willamette Valley. Major improvements and changes to the system have occurred in 2009 such as a completely new radio vault, a new 180' self-supporting tower, and a new Cummins-Onan 60KW backup generator and building with a 400 AH AGM battery bank to keep everything online during possible power outages. Although we call our group the "Central Oregon Coast Amateur Radio Club", our corporate name is "Oregon Coast Emergency Repeater, Inc" a 501 c3 nonprofit corporation.
