This afternoon just before 3pm Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 2 mutual aid structure fires in Daphne and a medical assist in Fairhope within 6 mins of each other. We were able to send 2 Engines to assist Daphne, help MedStar with their call and still had firefighters available to respond to any other calls that might’ve happened in Fairhope. Thankfully one Engine was returned when they got to the scene. The other assisted Daphne units on scene at Delachace Ct before returning to Fairhope. All units were back in Fairhope by 4pm.

Our Junior Firefighters told us they wanted to learn more about the medical aspect of being a first responder so we reached out to MedStar for assistance. We can’t thank them enough for coming to speak with our juniors to discuss EMS.

Congratulations to our Firefighter of the Quarter, Nathan Hathorn. Your dedication to our department is greatly appreciated. We are very thankful for your service to the City of Fairhope.
Nathan joined the fire service in 2012 with Pleasant Ridge Volunteer Fire Dept out of Laurel, MS. He continued his 13-year career there until 2025 when he became a paid firefighter with Petal Fire in Petal, MS. After almost a year with Petal, he moved to Fairhope with his wife Rebecca. From January 2026 to July 2026, Nathan has been a huge asset to the FVFD. He'll come to as many calls as he can and also come to any function the fire department puts on when he can. We're glad to have Nathan on our department and look forward to working with him for many years. Thanks for all your hard work, Nathan! Congratulations on Firefighter of the Quarter!

This week we were able to train in a house that is soon to be demolished. We are very thankful when given these opportunities to train in the most realistic environment you can have, an actual house. We focused on search in blackout conditions, entry and exit through windows, and roof ventilation. Thank you to all of our volunteers who spend hours monthly training to serve the community.
