The 2025 Southern Association for Institutional Research (SAIR) Conference was a great success in Alexandria, VA, thanks to the leadership of our own Wendy Broyles. Eleven Alabama institutions attended, with Alabama State University bringing the largest group. Auburn University led with the most pre-conference workshops, which focused on Power BI, R Studio (dplyr and ggplot2), and best practices for QEP development. Concurrent sessions highlighted topics such as regional economic prosperity, agriculture student success, Troy University “globally focused” QEP, faculty credentialing, and the use of logistic regression in institutional research. Congratulations to The University of Alabama at Birmingham for winning first place in the Best Print Report Award and Auburn University for winning second and third place in the Best Interactive Report.

The 2025 ALAIR Conference took place from March 12-14, 2025, at Coastal Alabama Community College and Columbia Southern University. Jessica Caroll of the Alabama Community College System served as the conference chair and chose the theme "Blue Skies Ahead," which focused on projecting optimism. The conference featured concurrent sessions on various topics, including Generative AI, pathways for agriculture students, best practices for fostering academic optimism, tracking student progress, utilizing analytics to enhance student-centric operations, and leadership lessons from the Apple TV show Ted Lasso. The keynote speaker was Russ Bartlett, a US Navy pilot and former commanding officer of the Blue Angels.
