Volunteer Fairfax

Recently, AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP projects came together to celebrate the power of service! RSVP-Northern Virginia hosted a local gathering for the 2026 AmeriCorps Seniors Nationwide Celebration, linking communities across the country in recognizing AmeriCorps Volunteers and the impact they make every day. We were honored to welcome leaders from AmeriCorps, Volunteer Fairfax board members and staff, RSVP Advisory Council members, and our AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Volunteers.

A special congratulations to AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP-Northern Virginia Volunteer Mike Mixon, who received the AmeriCorps Seniors Influential Service Award during the national recognition celebration. This incredible honor recognizes Mike’s commitment to service and the difference he continues to make in our community.

We also celebrated 50 AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP-NV Volunteers who contributed 100 or more hours of service during our last grant year here in Northern Virginia!

And what better way to celebrate service than by serving together? Attendees assembled 64 “Birthday in a Pan” kits for Food for Others, helping local families experiencing food insecurity enjoy a special birthday celebration, regardless of their budget.

Congratulations to all of our AmeriCorps Volunteers. Thank you for bringing your experience, time, and heart to strengthening our community!

We did it! 💙

More than 600 volunteers came together for VolunteerFest 2026 and packed an incredible 100,512 meals for neighbors facing food insecurity in our region.

The day also included our Community Fair, where local nonprofits and community organizations connected with attendees and shared opportunities to volunteer and stay involved throughout the year.
From packing meals to building new community connections, VolunteerFest showed what is possible when people come together with a shared purpose.
A huge thank you to every volunteer, Community Fair organization, donor, partner, and supporter who helped make VolunteerFest 2026 possible. You were part of this impact!

We’re also grateful to everyone who brought donations to support NOVA’s Nighthawk Nest Food Pantry, adding another way to give back during the day.

Stay connected with Volunteer Fairfax to discover upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and more ways to get involved.

Thank you for making VolunteerFest 2026 a day to remember!
