What a day to be a Skyhawk! ๐Ÿฆ…

FHS AFJROTC cadets were out in full force supporting Fairborn City Schools and the Fairborn High School Varsity Football team against the Tippecanoe Red Devils.

The day started with our first "Morning with Major" of the 2026โ€“2027 school year, where cadets gathered for fellowship over donuts, juice, and milk. ๐Ÿฉ We quickly got to work serving our community:

๐Ÿš˜Traffic & Parking: Cadets assisted with traffic flow and parking management prior to kickoff.
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Color Guard: Cadets presented the Colors, executing a 5-person colors reverse for the first time in front of a home crowd. The team was commanded by C/Lt Col Lindsay Cummins (US Flag Bearer), alongside C/SrA Rowyn Rust (US Guard), C/2d Lt Kayleigh Kraker (Ohio Flag Bearer), C/SrA Autumn Smith (Fairborn City Schools Flag Bearer), and C/SrA Bayne Arnold (State Guard).
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŽถ National Anthem: C/SSgt Kylie Burns provided ASL interpretation for "The Star-Spangled Banner" as the FHS Marching Band played.
๐Ÿฆ… Special Guest: Blue entertained the home crowd and even demonstrated some impressive "facing movements." Is it possible Blue is actually a cadet? We may need to investigate...๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This summer, three Fairborn High School AFJROTC cadets had the incredible opportunity to attend Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State, premier leadership and citizenship programs that immerse high school juniors in the operation of local and state government. Throughout the week, participants build mock governments, campaign for elected offices, debate legislation, and develop the leadership skills and civic responsibility needed to become engaged citizens.

Congratulations to:
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ C/Lt Col Lindsay Cummins โ€“ Buckeye Girls State
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ C/CMSgt Logan Williams โ€“ Buckeye Boys State
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ C/CMSgt Colby Chhy โ€“ Buckeye Boys State

A special highlight of the week was the opportunity for delegates at both Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State to hear from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, who addressed the delegates and shared his insights on leadership, public service, and civic engagement. His remarks provided an inspiring perspective on the importance of serving others and making a positive impact in our communities.

These outstanding cadets represented Fairborn High School AFJROTC with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to service while gaining valuable leadership experience that will benefit them for years to come.

Special thanks to American Legion Post 526 for sponsoring our cadets and for their continued partnership in coordinating this outstanding opportunity. Your investment in developing the next generation of leaders makes a lasting impact on our students and our community.

Congratulations again to Colby, Logan, and Lindsay on this outstanding achievement! We are proud of the way you represented FHS AFJROTC and look forward to seeing how you apply the lessons learned through these exceptional programs.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Independence Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

FHS AFJROTC Cadets were honored to represent our school by displaying the Colors and leading the Fairborn City Schools procession in this yearโ€™s Fairborn Fourth of July Parade. It was especially meaningful to participate with the City of Fairborn and its citizens as we celebrated the 250th Anniversary of the United States. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The Color Guard team consisted of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Lindsay Cummins (American Guard), Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Logan Williams (American Flag Bearer), Cadet Second Lieutenant Kayleigh Kraker (Ohio Flag Bearer), Cadet Master Sergeant Shelby Smith (Fairborn City Schools Flag Bearer), and Cadet Senior Airman Ariah Anderson (State Guard). Additionally, Cadet Master Sergeant Arianna Mullins, Cadet Senior Airman Abel Jaques, and Cadet Airman Avery Burke also wore historic military uniforms for the Miami Valley Military Museum float.

We also had numerous Cadets participate throughout the parade with the band (Fairborn High School Marching Band and Fairborn Civic Band), cheer, and athletics.

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Fairborn, Fairborn City Schools, and the Citizens of Fairborn for a fantastic Fourth of July celebration!

Today, FHS AFJROTC Cadets proudly volunteered at the 9th Annual Rafi's Amigos Golf Outing; another fantastic year dedicated to raising funds for an exclusive one-day Air Camp experience for AFJROTC Cadets from Fairborn, Beavercreek, and Bellbrook High Schools.

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of Rafi Rodriguez and our incredible community and business leaders, our Cadets have an amazing opportunity ahead. Theyโ€™ll dive into hands-on STEM and aviation experiences that fuel passion for aerospace and leadership!

Weโ€™re deeply grateful to all the sponsors and everyone who hit the greens today and continues to invest in the next generation of leaders. Your commitment makes a lasting impact on our mission of "developing citizens of character."

Fairborn High School AFJROTC Cadets were honored to support the Fairborn High School Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony by proudly presenting the Colors and recognizing our graduating Cadets through a traditional Saber Arch.

The Saber Arch was reserved for seniors who demonstrated their commitment through at least two years of AFJROTC service or by choosing to serve our nation through enlistment in one of the military branches. As these graduates passed beneath the crossed sabers, they were recognized for their dedication, leadership, and service to something greater than themselves.

Congratulations to all members of the Class of 2026! We are especially proud of our AFJROTC cadets and future service members as they begin the next chapter of their journey. Thank you for allowing AFJROTC to be part of this special milestone.

Aim High, Fairborn Seniors! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœˆ๏ธ

FHS AFJROTC Cadets had the privilege to participate in multiple local Memorial Day Ceremonies. We joined with our local veterans to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ulitimate sacrifice for our freedom. VFW Post 6861, Fairborn, Ohio spearheaded a ceremony at Byron Cemetery. Later, American Legion Post 526 held a ceremony at Fairfield Cemetery.

Thank you to our local VFW and American Legion posts for allowing our cadets to be a part of these moving ceremonies. It is a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom, and we are incredibly proud of our cadets for representing Fairborn High School with such respect, dignity, and pride.

Prior to the ceremonies, Cadets also assisted in placing flag holders and flags at both cemeteries. We appreciate our local Veteran Service Organizations for the mentorship and leadership in the Fairborn community.
