This holiday weekend, you are invited to visit the American Independence Center's free and accessible living garden exhibit exploring historical changes in Indigenous land use resulting from colonization. The gardens serve as a visual timeline, blending Indigenous agricultural practices of the Abenaki using native plants for culinary, medicinal, and ceremonial purposes. Preserving the story of the cultural and historical significance of this land use will ensure that the invaluable lessons of adaptation, resilience, and sustainable coexistence will continue to be shared with new generations.
