Everything you need to know about the Lincoln Woods Trail Closure:
When?
Monday, February 9, 2026 for a few weeks, then closing again June 2026-Nov 1, 2026.
Where?
1.4 miles of the Lincoln Woods Trail will be closed starting at Lincoln Woods Trailhead off Highway 112 (Kanc) to jct of Osseo Trail.
Why?
According to the US Forest Service, the trail “suffered significant damage during several flooding events over the past decade. This is essential work to ensure the long term viability of the trail.”
Plan alternate routes for WM 4000’er access to peaks such as Owl’s Head, and The Bonds. This also Impacts the start/end points of the popular Pemi Loop.
East Side Trail will remain open and accessible at the Lincoln Woods Trailhead parking area for day hikes or alternative wilderness trips.
Be aware of the risks associated with river crossings, as they can be challenging with fluctuating river levels. Please exercise extreme caution, if you choose to cross a river or stream. It is your personal responsibility to assess conditions on site when deciding whether to cross.
Please also be respectful of any “closed to public use” or “restricted” signage and do not enter the area. Note that there are fines associated with any violations.
