The TrailLife USA Local & Nationwide R***e Competition is coming up on November 14th, and the RSVP deadline is just a few days away! Our Crescent Valley Area is hosting at Red Brush R***e Range in Newburgh, IN, and troops from the tristate and beyond are welcome. We currently have 7 troops from 3 states who have already RSVP’d! 🇺🇸

🏕️ 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 — 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟲𝘁𝗵

Another amazing Monday night with a lot going on! 🎒✝️

♟️ 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡: 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙨 & 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩

Our Chaplain opened with chess, since a number of our Trailmen have been enjoying learning and playing together. Every piece on the board moves in its own way, much like each of us in the body of Christ has our own talents and gifts. When we move within God's plans, we succeed. God moves and always wins. We already know the end of the story! 🙌

🌲 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡

The younger patrols worked on First Aid and the Worthy Life lesson on the Prodigal Son, a powerful picture of repentance and a Father who welcomes His children home. 📖

🧭 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 & 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙧𝙨

The Navigators wrapped up First Aid by making their own first aid kits and taking a final quiz that was created and administered by the Navigators themselves! 💪🚑 Adventurers also worked on finishing up Cinematography. Lastly, they all began planning the December Winter/Survival Campout at Camp Reveal (stay tuned for more info!). We excited to do some work for them and partner with them (Thank you Mr. Jacob!)! ❄️

🏕️ 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝟭𝟬𝟭 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 — 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟲-𝟭𝟴

Every year this trip is a pinnacle adventure on our calendar, and this year did not disappoint! 17 in our crew, including our brothers from the Trail Life USA Troop IN 0624 Newburgh, IN troop. 🎒✝️

🚐 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮

We packed up Friday morning and made the 6 hour trek rolling in Friday night. Saturday was packed with wide area games and competitions. Sunday brought breakfast, camp break down, chapel and the drive home.

💪 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜

This trip had plenty of chances for us to trust God and adapt and overcome:

🚦 Traffic delays and a late roll out
🛞 A blown tire on the way there
🌧️ Rain Friday night while setting up camp
🥶 Freezing temperatures Saturday night into Sunday morning
🤒 Illness, faced with a positive attitude
🔥Jim's Coffee Competition? The fire took a while to burn through the strings and two cups of water were dropped. Still, they pressed on and finished with success! ☕

🔨 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨

Here are just some of the new skills our Trailmen were blessed to come home with!

❄️ Cold weather camping. Polar Bear status earned! 🐻‍❄️
🔥 Our Adventurer patrol got one on one coaching from Dave Canterbury in the Coffee/Fire Competition

⚔️ Our Navigator/Adventurer patrol, the Seven Swarthy Swordsmen (they always come up with the best patrol names, love it!), scored 54 points, right at the 50th percentile overall
🌲 Woodland Trail enjoyed the obstacle course, rope bridge, blacksmithing, slingshots, archery and BB guns
🍩 Making and eating camp donuts
🏆 Winning all rounds at Archery Tag
☕️🔥 4th place in the Fire/Coffee competition!

📖 📖 𝙂𝙤𝙙'𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙 & 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙨

Creek Stewart shared his testimony Friday night and gave an invitation to accept Christ (which many did! 🙌). Saturday night around the campfire we paused for a moment of thankfulness to God. Chapel centered on 2 Peter 2:19 and living free. People are slaves to whatever has mastered them, and freedom in Christ is not an excuse to keep sinning. A Christian should not be a slave to sin.

🌿 𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝

Sunday morning we packed efficiently and had time to spare. Eric Tanner asked for a trash sweep of the campfire area, our Trailmen jumped in. They turned up plenty of items for the lost and found and got to practice being good stewards of creation. ♻️

Peaks, valleys, new skills and new friends. God is always faithful to provide! Our Trailmen came home stronger. 🙌

Another great Monday night, and a lot of it was about looking back at an incredible weekend in Johnstown! 🎒✝️

⛺️ 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙮: 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙡 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙥 𝙍𝙚𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩

Our DBBC crew opened the night by reporting back to the troop on their trip to Johnstown, OH. They shared their favorite moments, their peaks and valleys, and even put together a slideshow of pictures. 📸

The crew was awarded their camp pins and one Trailmen received special recognition for their trash pickup. 🌿 Awards are also on the way at the next Honor Court for our Jim's Coffee Competitors ☕ and for a Polar Bear Night, which means camping at or below freezing! 🥶

📖 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣'𝙨 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡: 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙞𝙙 & 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙡

Our Chaplain continued his devotional series on first aid and faith. First aid can help our earthly bodies, but only Jesus can take away our sins, if we make Him our Lord and Savior. ✝️

The younger patrols worked on their Worthy Life Award and Outdoor Skills branch. 🌲

🧭 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨- 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙞𝙙

The Navigators kept building their First Aid skills with temperature related illness, common outdoor injuries, and the proper care of those injuries. 🚑

⚔️ 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙧𝙨

Our Adventurers gave updates on their badge work and made a plan to complete an elective at the next troop meeting. 💪

The group came together to talk through the R***e Competition on November 14 and to gauge interest in a Winter/Survival Campout Part 2 on December 4-5. ❄️ Stay tuned for details on both!

One of the most anticipated weekends of the year is almost here — and our troop is READY!

This Friday we are making our annual trek to Johnstown, OH for Jim Ramey's Daniel Boone Basecamp — the largest Trailmen gathering of the year with over 2000 Trailmen converging from across the region (7 states!)! A full weekend of outdoor skills, competition, brotherhood and most importantly — growing in faith. 🙌

Another great Monday night in the books — wisdom, skills, leadership and a powerful closing word! 🎒✝️

📖 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 — 𝙒𝙞𝙨𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙫𝙨 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚

Our Chaplain opened with a distinction that matters deeply — the difference between wisdom and knowledge. Knowledge is information. Wisdom is knowing what to do with it. And it all starts in the same place — the fear and awe of the Lord. Proverbs 9:10 alive and well on a Monday night. 🙌

🌲 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 — 𝙃𝙤𝙗𝙗𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙝

The younger patrols explored sports tonight — basketball and baseball taking center stage. Learning that God can be glorified in how we play, compete and carry ourselves on and off the field. ⚾🏀

🧭 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 — 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙞𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙙𝙜𝙚: 𝘼𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙨

In true Trail Life fashion — Trailmen led Trailmen tonight. Our Navigators took ownership of their First Aid badge work covering animal bites with their peers at the helm. Leadership development happening in real time. 💪🚑

⚔️ 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙧𝙨 — 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙍𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮

Our Adventurers got serious tonight — formalizing their majors and minors for the Freedom Rangeman award as they pressed forward on their Journey Advancement. These young men are building something significant. 🏆

🗺️ 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 & 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 — 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠

The two groups came together for some seriously impressive compass work. Point to point navigation, using a compass on a map, and then taking it to the field. The highlight? A Navigator designed and set up a 5 point orienteering course using frisbees and pace counts. Trailmen teaching Trailmen. That is exactly how it should work. 🧭🌲

🙏 𝘾𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 — 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙂𝙤𝙙'𝙨 𝙄𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚

Our Troopmaster closed the night with a word that every young man needed to hear. We were made in the image of God. He does not make mistakes. Every single one of these young men was stitched together by Him — for His glory and His purpose. Not by accident. Not by chance. On purpose. For a purpose. ✝️

Our Trail Life Troop is going to be at the Thresherman Park Antique Tractor Show and Flea Market Oct 9-11 and we'd love to have you come out to say hi, enjoy the show - and buy a really amazing pork loin sandwich from our booth! I sampled one Monday night and they're AMAZING!

Sandwiches are $6 each and we're glad to take pre-orders for your family! .. You can pick them up any night during the show at 5pm at Thresherman Park (2144 New Harmony Road, Boonville, IN). ..Or, if you'd prefer to pick up your pre-ordered sandwiches at our Troop meeting Monday night, 10/12, we can do that too! 6:30pm for pick-up at our Troop meeting - at First Southern Baptist Church, 25 S. The night opened with a jam packed update covering the Canoe Adventure recap, fundraising updates, Daniel Boone Basecamp planning, a SWIBA Conference opportunity and so much more! We will be diving deeper into each of these in future posts — stay tuned! 👀

📖 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣'𝙨 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 — 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙞𝙙 & 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝

Our Chaplain drew one of the most powerful parallels of the year tonight. First aid can treat wounds, stop bleeding, and save lives — but there is no amount of first aid that can cure us of our sin. For that there is only one answer — believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Simple. Profound. Life changing. ✝️

🌲 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 — 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙: 𝙕𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙚𝙪𝙨

The younger patrols continued their Worthy Life Award work with a lesson straight from Luke 19 — the story of Zacchaeus. They dug into the incredible value of repentance, the importance of trusting God, and what it truly means to turn from sin and follow Jesus. A lesson these young men will carry far beyond Monday night. 📖

🧭 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 — 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙞𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙙𝙜𝙚: 𝘾𝙋𝙍 & 𝙀𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚

Tonight the Navigators leveled up their First Aid badge work in a big way — covering poisoning, severe bleeding, and CPR. And this was not a textbook lesson.

Mr. Brandon brought in real CPR dummies from the Henderson Fire Department (thank you!) and Mr. Rex stepped in to help teach proper technique. These Trailmen got hands on life saving training that most adults have never had. 🚑💪

🏕️ 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 — 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟱-𝟮𝟲

What a weekend on two very different fronts — a powerful movie night and an epic water adventure! 🎒✝️

🎬 𝙁𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙚 — 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩

Several of our Navigator Trailmen caught Heart of the Beast on the big screen Friday night — and it delivered far more than just survival tactics and stunning wilderness scenery.

The biblical takeaway was impossible to miss — this world is a fallen place. Even in its most breathtaking and beautiful moments, creation is broken. Crashing planes, dangerous rivers, threatening beasts, life and death at every turn. But that is not the end of the story. One day in a new heaven and a new earth we will get to enjoy all of His creation — without the curse. Without the danger. Without the fall. What a day that will be. 🙌

🚣 𝙎𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙮 — 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙚 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 @ 𝘽𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙁𝙞𝙨𝙝 & 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚

And then Saturday happened. 34 Trailmen and family members. 18+ watercraft on the water. One absolutely incredible day at Bluegrass Fish & Wildlife area. 🌊

The Trailmen practiced their strokes, explored islands, discovered clams and mussels hiding in the riverbed — and yes — unearthed yet ANOTHER tire from a body of water. 🤣 At this point it is basically a tradition. Trailmen paddled 2 miles up and back down the lake and likely paddle another 2-3 miles exploring!

🏕️ 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 — 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟭𝘀𝘁

We are back in full swing and tonight reminded us exactly why we love Monday nights! We had updates on adventures past, adventures coming, a special guest from our Owensboro troop, and even a birthday celebration! 🎉

📖 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 — 𝟐 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝟕

Our Troopmaster opened with a powerful word from 2 Kings 7 — reminding every Trailman in the room that we are not called to sit idle and let life happen to us. We are called to move, act, and engage. A word that set the tone for the entire night. 🔥

🌲 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 — 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙝: 𝙊𝙗𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚

The younger patrols took a deep dive into one of the most important values a young man can develop — obedience. They unpacked the 5th Commandment, studied examples of obedient leaders and followers throughout Scripture, and learned how humility, hard work, and servant leadership all flow from a heart that chooses to obey. 📖

🧭 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 — 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙞𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙙𝙜𝙚

The Navigators worked through some of the most practical and important skills a Trailman can have — responding to sudden illnesses, bracing techniques, and emergency carries. These are skills that could save a life someday. 🚑

⚔️ 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙧𝙨 — 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩

Our Adventurers dove into their Journey Advancement — covering Worthy Life Award requirements, reviewing the Patrol Leader Guidebook, and beginning their Fitness True Freedom badge. Growing in leadership and faith every single week. 💪

The two groups came together for some serious map work — covering map symbols, orienteering compass basics, plotting points, finding bearings, and deciphering an orienteering map. Skills that connect the classroom to the trail in the best possible way. 🧭

❄️ 𝘾𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 — 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙒𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙥

Our Troopmaster closed the night with a timely word on cold weather camping — including a great tip on using a hot Nalgene water bottle to stay warm in your sleeping bag. With winter adventures on the horizon, this knowledge is going to come in handy! 🥶

And to close — we celebrated a birthday for one of our Mountain Lions! 🎂 Happy Birthday!
