𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 — 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟮

What a night. We packed more into one troop meeting — and we even survived a tornado scare to get there! 🌪️

🌪️ 𝘽𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙...

Tornado activity in the area on Sunday night pushed our troop trailer across the parking lot and into a fence. Before a single badge was earned or a lesson was taught, our Trailmen were already outside moving the trailer back into position and repairing the fence damage. A special thank you to Mr. Nick for leading the charge. 💪

Our Chaplain opened the night with a powerful devotion on The Beatitudes — a timely reminder of what it truly looks like to be blessed in God's eyes. The perfect foundation for everything that followed.

Our First Officer and a Hawk Trailman kicked things off with a recap of the Youth NRA Day at Red Brush Rifle Range. If you missed that post — go check it out! 🎯

🏛️ 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙂𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩 — 𝙅𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙈𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚, 𝙎𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣

The highlight of the evening was a visit from Jules Mominee representing the Sons of the American Revolution. Jules brought the Revolutionary period to life — sharing the stories, the struggles, and even the gear and supplies a patriot would have carried while travelling during that era. History didn't just come alive tonight — it walked right through our door. 🇺🇸

📚 𝘽𝙖𝙙𝙜𝙚 & 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠

Three big things happened simultaneously tonight:

🪓 Woodland Trail dove into Edge Tools — knives, axes, and the skills and respect that go with them.

📜 Navigators completed their Founders & Framers badge — a fitting finish on a night celebrating American history.

🎤 Our First Officer delivered something truly impressive — reciting "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" from memory. 👏 Listen my children and you shall hear...

🎒 𝘾𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 — 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝟐 & 𝘽𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙙𝙖𝙮

The night wrapped up with another packing seminar — this time focused specifically on packing smart for a summer adventure with limited van space. The Faith & Freedom Summer Adventure is getting close and these young men are getting ready! ✝️🇺🇸

And we celebrated a birthday with a hardy birthday song and sweet treat for a Hawk celebrating his birthday!

🎯 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 — 𝗡𝗥𝗔 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗥𝗶𝗳𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲

What a way to kick off Father's Day weekend! 🇺🇸

Today 10 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘮𝘦𝘯 — ranging from Hawk all the way to Adventurer, representing all three of our local troops — spent the morning at Red Brush Rifle Range for the 𝘕𝘙𝘈 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘋𝘢𝘺 & 𝘊𝘔𝘗 𝘙𝘪𝘮𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘤. And they showed up and showed OUT.

🔫 𝙊𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚

After a safety briefing, Pledge of Allegiance, and opening prayer, the Trailmen got to work. The event offered a full spread of shooting disciplines:

- 🎯 .22 Rifles & .22 Pistols *(CMP Rimfire Sporter Clinic — 30 min class + 15 rounds live fire per discipline)*
- 💥 20-Gauge Shotguns
- 🔫 Air Rifles
- 🏹 Archery

The Trailmen showcased their firearm safety knowledge and logged serious range time across every station. Favorites ranged — pun absolutely intended 😄 — from bow to shotgun. And in a highlight of the day, they even got hands-on Olympic-style competition air rifles used in CMP and National Competitions — the Crosman Challenger.🏅

We blinked. And somehow we’re already at the halfway point of the year. 🤯

No troop meeting this week First Southern Baptist Church is hosting VBS and a number of our Trailmen are right in the middle of it, volunteering and participating. That’s exactly who these young men are. But tonight feels like the perfect moment to stop, look back, and give God the glory for what He has done.

🧗 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 — 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 Vertical Excape - Evansville

Today a group of brave Trailmen strapped in, looked up, and climbed. 💪

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮? 3 Trailmen conquered their fear of heights and scaled all the way to the 32-foot ceiling — and didn’t stop there. They came back down and went right back up. Again. And again. That’s not just climbing — that’s character. 🙌

𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙙𝙨? They didn’t just watch from the sidelines. 2 Dads strapped in and crushed it too. 😄 Leading from the front, as always.

There is something powerful about watching a young man face something that scares him — and doing it anyway. That’s the kind of courage that carries over into every area of life.

🏕️ 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 — 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭

We’re back! After a Memorial Day break, the troop came roaring back to life with one of the more action-packed nights we’ve had. Let’s get into it!

🌲 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 — 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙙𝙤𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙝

Tonight the younger patrols stepped into the world of tracking! 🐾 They learned that God’s creation is a vast, diverse, and endlessly fascinating world designed for us to explore — and that reading that world requires skill, patience, and attention.

The Trailmen dove into the why and how of tracking — discovering that the ability to read the land around you is both an ancient skill and a deeply practical one. Creation has a lot to say to those who know how to look.

🏊 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 — 𝙎𝙬𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩

The Navigators hit the water tonight at Deaconess Aquatic Center for their long-awaited swimming skills and assessment night! They warmed up, practiced, and put it all on the line — and all Navigators in attendance passed their assessment! 💪🌊

A special thank you to an American Heritage Girl who serves as a lifeguard and stepped up to test and certify the entire patrol. That is sisterhood in action. 🙏

They closed the night the right way — water basketball and a sweet treat at Big Top Drive-In Restaurant. Well earned, gentlemen. 🏀🍦

🇺🇸 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆

For many, Memorial Day is a day off. For us, it is so much more.

It is a day to 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥. To 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩. To 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧 the brave men and women who bled and died so that we could live free. Freedom is not free — and today we remember the price that was paid.

While there is no troop meeting today, our Trailmen know that the greatest lessons aren’t always learned at a troop meeting. Some are learned by looking at a headstone, shaking a veteran’s hand, or simply pausing long enough to be grateful.

To every soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine and families who gave the last full measure of devotion — we remember you. We honor you. We thank you. 🎖️

Vacations, sick days, and stormy weather — and we still showed up and got after it! That’s this troop. 💪

After prayer and devotional, we took time during opening ceremony to recognize and celebrate our 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙩 𝙍𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 from the weekend! Well earned, gentlemen. 🚣🎖️

🌲 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 — 𝙃𝙤𝙗𝙗𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙝

The patrols continued their Hobbies branch this week with games and — in a fun twist — got their hands in on a 𝙪𝙠𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙡𝙚! 🎸 Trying new things, discovering what God has uniquely gifted them to do, and having a blast doing it. Exactly what this branch is all about.

🧭 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 — 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝 & 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙥

The Navigators were locked and loaded for their swimming assessment tonight — but the weather had other plans. No problem. This patrol pivots like pros.

They shifted gears into their 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 & 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 elective, diving deep into the history behind the Revolution War and the Declaration of Independence, and exploring the lives of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. With the 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝 & 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 on the horizon, the timing couldn’t be better. We had a really good discussion comparing and contrasting earthly kings with the King of Kings. History is coming alive for these young men — and they’re about to go live it. 🇺🇸

𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙩𝙚

The evening closed with a timely word on safety and the importance of paying attention — a reminder that awareness and preparation aren’t just outdoor skills, they’re life skills.

🚣 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 & 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲

They designed them. They built them. They raced them. And somehow — for 90 whole minutes — nobody sank. 🤣

🔨 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙

The day kicked off with prayer, a safety briefing, and a look at what was in store. Then the Trailmen (and Dads 😄) got to work. Armed with cardboard, duct tape, staplers, adhesive spray, and sheer determination, they had two hours to bring their designs to life.

The result? An armada worthy of the high seas. ⚓

🏆 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣

This wasn’t just about fun — there were titles on the line:

• 🥇 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Overall
• 😂 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘑𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘩 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 — last place and/or first to sink
• 🎨 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘢𝘩 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 — Best Design

And here’s the best part — winners’ names and dates are engraved on the paddles, Stanley Cup style. 🏒 Those paddles will be displayed with pride. Legacy, earned on the water.

🌊 𝙊𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧

After lunch and a technique briefing, they hit the water — and it did not disappoint. The first half of the race was a dead-heat battle for first place that had everyone on their feet. After the race finished, came the fun:

• ⏱️ 90 minutes before a single boat sank 🤣
• 🚣 8 Trailmen packed into one cardboard boat (new record!) — and there was room for more!
• 📈 More Trailmen participated this year than ever before

It is something to behold — watching God work in these young men, growing them in skill, bravery, and brotherhood one adventure at a time.

🏕️ 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 — 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵

We’re back! Normal troop nights are back on the calendar and the energy showed it. Learning, growing, planning and going — let’s get into it!

🌲 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 — 𝙃𝙤𝙗𝙗𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙝
The younger patrols explored something every boy loves — hobbies — but with a deeper lens. They discovered that God wants us to pursue excellence in everything we do, that there is a season for all things, and that even our hobbies should honor and glorify Him.

Then things got fun. Patrols hit the field for soccer with a big focus on finishing — a lesson that translates well beyond the pitch. ⚽

But the highlight of the night? Our Ranger pulled up with his bass boat! 🚤 The Trailmen got an up-close look at how a fishing boat operates, learned the basics of fishing from a boat, and then grabbed rods for some casting practice. Few things connect a boy to creation like a fishing line and open water (or field in our case! 🤣). What a night for the Woodlands Trail!

🧭 𝙉𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 — 𝘼𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝘽𝙖𝙙𝙜𝙚
The Navigators dove headfirst (pun intended!) into their Aquatics badge this week with focused classroom and video work. They explored the ways water appears throughout Scripture — as both blessing and judgment — a reminder that even the natural world points to God’s sovereignty.

Two Navigators stepped up to lead and facilitate the classroom session themselves — a great moment of ownership and leadership from these young men. 👏

They’re now ready to hit the water for the next two troop nights to complete the badge and tackle the Swimmer’s Assessment. Stay tuned!

This weekend — May 16th — is our 2𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘉𝘰𝘢𝘵 𝘙𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴! 🎉

This event is growing and it is going to be a blast. Last year? Zero boats sank. Every crew stayed dry. Pure fun from start to finish. We are making this event better with each year! Will that record hold this year? We’ll find out soon. Stay tuned! 😄

Serving... That's what our guys do. And yes, service deserves a treat! Those two very full bags of trash were collected in less than one mile as these Trailmen hiked to the DQ near First Southern Baptist Church. These are some remarkable young men!
