At our Tuesday morning meeting this week, Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club members came together to focus on Rotary’s October theme: Economic and Community Development.

Our Community Service Committee shared how service, collaboration, and local action can create meaningful opportunities and lasting impact in our communities.

Together, we turn our commitment to Service Above Self into action! 🤝

Today we honor indigenous peoples, their enduring cultures, and their stewardship of the land, while recognizing that honoring the past also means pursuing justice and making amends for historic wrongs.

Another great weekly meeting at the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club! 🌟

We were pleased to welcome Bryant Wallace, Rotary District 6440 District Governor Nominee, as our featured speaker. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear from Bryant, connect with fellow Rotarians, and continue strengthening our commitment to Service Above Self and our community.

Congratulations to the Evanston Community Foundation on 40 years of empowering leaders, investing in Evanston, and advancing justice.

The connections between ECF and the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary run deep. Our members serve on the boards of both organizations and in leadership roles across Rotary District 6440, including the governor’s line. Members have also long participated in ECF’s Leadership Evanston program, and our club’s endowment is invested with the Community Foundation.

ECF is an important partner in our connection to Evanston. It's a hub that brings together leaders, organizations, neighborhoods, and communities across the city. Through that partnership, we deepen our own connections with people throughout Evanston, gain a broader view of the city’s strengths and needs, and discover opportunities for our service and philanthropy to have an even greater impact.

We’re proud to share ECF’s 40th anniversary video and celebrate a partnership rooted in relationships, leadership, and a shared commitment to a stronger Evanston — for now, forever, and for everyone.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

As Evanston Latinos Executive Director Ricardo Villalobos put it, there is “so much history,” and one important way to honor it is to make space for Latinos to tell their own stories, in both Spanish and English.

The Daily Northwestern captured the energy and meaning of the evening in its coverage of Nuestras Historias.

Evanston Lighthouse Rotary members Jose Lopez, Ann Searles, and Linda Ge**er were among those in attendance. Jose also serves on the board of Evanston Latinos.

Every Sunday, Ernesto Rodriguez Carreño would meet his family to help them cook. As the eldest of six brothers, he helped his siblings prepare food, and they only ate when the whole family was together at the table. Growing up in a small village of Santa Gertrudis in Oaxaca, Mexico, Carreño didn.....
