Oct. 25 through 31, is Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. Children can be exposed to lead where they live and play, and even small amounts can harm their health.
A quick blood test is the only way to know if a child has lead poisoning—symptoms may not be seen until years later.
DHHS’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is offering free testing of household items for lead at the Henderson Center Farmers’ Market on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Bring up to three items for testing. For more information, call 707-298-5393 or visit HumboldtGov.org/CLPP.
