Sister Cities Essex Haiti Working in one corner of Haiti by collaborating with the people of Deschapelles to establish programs that expand educational and cultural opportunities.

Your support of Sister Cities Essex|Haiti helps us continue to create and implement sustainable programs that make a long-lasting difference to the residents of Deschapelles. Our projects include

~the implementation of computer literacy programs,
~the formation of women’s, men’s and youth groups which support capacity-building and empowerment of a community,
~a music program that has blossomed

into an organized band that teaches music to students of all ages,
~a robust robotics program that won second prize in the country-wide Robotics First Lego Competition with their Hydro Dynamique project that focused on solutions to Haiti's water problems.

This year, SCEH proudly celebrated a major milestone - the 10th anniversary of the Deschapelles Community Library! There were festivities, food, music and a “Genius Competition” - a reading challenge that has proven remarkably effective at inspiring children to pick up books and discover the joy of reading 📖
