Safe Harbor Marina - Dauntless hosted their annual Block Party on Saturday, August 15th. It was a festive event for their dock-holders and guests. They also held a raffle, with items donated by local businesses, with proceeds benefiting a charity.

This year, BFK was the selected organization and we received over $2,200! Many thanks to SHM Dauntless and to those who participated.
We are so grateful for the support!

Tom from Zane’s Cycles stopped by the Wheelhouse to deliver over 2 dozen smaller bikes for us to repair and rehome. Through the years, Zane’s has donated hundreds of bicycles to BFK.

UPDATE- The black and red bikes were claimed. The green bike is still available.

We have three single speed cruiser type bikes desperate to find their new homes before the end of summer.

The first is a matte black, medium frame for an adult.

The red and green bicycles are for people 5’6” and taller. Both of these bikes have long wheelbases.

Please complete a request form on our website at bikesforkidsct.org if you’re interested in one of these bikes. In the comment section, write “FB 8/7 and the color of the bike (black, red or green)” so we may process your request quickly.

Sunday, BFK participated in the Celebrate Saybrook Street Party.

It was a fun afternoon. We made friends, held a free prize drawing and collected a few donations!

BFK has gifted over 30,000 bicycles to date. We would not have been able to achieve this without the continued support of our community.

Whether it’s a donation of a used (or new) bike, parts or money…every gift counts and is appreciated!

Our thanks to Saybrook Hardware for allowing us to set up our table outside their store.

On May 6th, thousands of schools nationwide and over 75 schools in Connecticut participated in the Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day (WB&R). This year marked the first time that Essex Elementary School (EES) participated in this event organized by the Department of Transportation in Connecticut.

EES invited BFK to attend the event. Of course, we enjoy speaking with students and their parents about bike safety and maintenance. And, BFK provided several helmets to kids too!

Principal David Kitzman said that WB&R went great and hopes that EES will participate for years to come.
