When I walked into Owen County Animal Shelter for my very first rescue photography session with Carolyn Evans in June of 2012, I had no business plan. No grand vision. Just a camera and a belief that better photos could help homeless animals find homes.
What I didn't know then was that a single shelter visit would grow into a 14-year journey of serving animals, shelters, rescues, and the people who dedicate their lives to saving them.
Since that first session, Iโve been honored to work with more than 30 shelters and rescue organizations and photograph over 5,000 animals, helping them find the visibility they needed to find a home.
More than 5,000 stories.
More than 5,000 hopeful faces.
More than 5,000 opportunities for someone to fall in love.
Along the way, I've witnessed unforgettable transformations, celebrated countless adoptions, and met some of the most compassionate people I've ever known. Shelter staff, rescue volunteers, foster families, adopters, donors, transporters, veterinariansโyou are the reason this work matters.
Most of all, I'm grateful to the animals. Every one of them trusted me with their story. Every one of them deserved to be seen.
Fourteen years later, I still believe what I believed on that very first day: when an animal is truly seen, everything can change.
Sometimes a photograph doesn't just change a lifeโit saves one.
Thank you to Carolyn Evans for opening the first door. Thank you to every shelter and rescue that has welcomed me through theirs. And thank you to everyone who has supported Second Shot and helped turn images into second shots for these amazing beings.
For fourteen years, this work has been a labor of love. Every session, every adoption photo, every shelter visit, and every success story has been provided as a volunteer because I believe every animal's life is worth the investment of my time, talent, and heart.
But as I celebrate this milestone, I'm also looking toward the future.

Because there are still animals waiting for someone to see them.
Waiting for their second shot.
