Can’t make it to Cincinnati? Sign up for the Virtual DAV 5K and take part from anywhere in the world on Veterans Day weekend (November 7-11)! Registration opens on July 1.

We want to recognize the fastest participants from the Cincinnati DAV 5K.

For the veteran category, the fastest male runner was Nathan Stewart (middle left) with 17 minutes, 44 seconds.

The fastest female veteran was Kate Herrmann (middle right) with 23 minutes, 10 seconds.

For the non-veteran category, the fastest female runner, and fastest overall runner across all categories, was Madeline Trevisan (left), with an impressive run of 17 minutes, 23 seconds.

The fastest non-veteran male was Derrick Kihembo (right), with a time of 17 minutes, 36 seconds.

Congratulations to you all on your remarkable speeds. Thanks for giving the rest of us something to work towards next year!

One of the best parts about the DAV 5K is seeing all of the different locations that participants choose to walk, roll, run or ride their Virtual DAV 5K. This year’s winner of the Most Unique Landmark award in the DAV 5K Photo Contest is Vincent Marquez from Fresno, California, where he serves as the Commander of DAV Chapter 1. As part of his virtual DAV 5K, Vincent mapped his course near the Morro Bay. Here he is posing in front of the Morro Bay Rock, which is more than 25 million years old! Thanks for the photo Commander, and thanks for the fun history lesson!

This is the winner of the Best Finish Line category in the 2025 DAV 5K Photo Contest. This year’s winner is Vicente Agor. Vicente is a 95-year-old Coast Guard veteran from California whose family flew into Cincinnati to celebrate his birthday and take part in the DAV 5K to support veterans. We’re honored to be a part of your birthday celebration, Vicente. Thank you for your service and thank you for supporting the DAV 5K!

The winner of the Most Patriotic award for the 2025 DAV 5K Photo Contest goes Irene Gillenwater, who carried her Air Force flag with her the entire race. Irene posed for this photo before she hit the streets of Cincinnati for the in-person race on November 8. Thanks for your service and your patriotism, Irene. Congrats on your win!

By engaging with coworkers and showing their support for veterans, several corporate teams took part in the virtual or Cincinnati DAV 5K this year. The winning team — which also earned the Top Virtual Fundraiser honors — is team AXA XL. Team captain Kevin La Salle and 270 of his teammates organized several group 5K’s throughout the country. Thank you for your service and thank you for organizing a group of your colleagues to help raise awareness of DAV’s mission!

The Furry Friend award is a bit of a fan favorite during the DAV 5K Photo Contest. We believe that just because you’re covered in fur and walk on four legs doesn’t mean you can’t show your support of America’s veterans! This year’s winner Ed Myslik with his Golden Retriever.
