🎉 It’s another Founder Friday and we’re excited to celebrate Mika Cross, a Winter 2026 DAV Patriot Boot Camp alumna.

👤 Bio: Mika Cross is a native of rural Maine and the founder of Strategy@Work, a Maryland-based, service-disabled veteran-owned small business. After serving as both an enlisted soldier and commissioned officer in the Army, she transitioned into federal leadership roles, shaping workforce strategy across sectors.

A passionate advocate for the future of work, Mika launched Strategy@Work to help organizations build healthy, high-performing cultures. Strategy@Work launched GovPulse and VibeCheck in 2024 to help government and public sector organizations measure and improve organizational health, workforce engagement and mission performance. These tools combine cutting-edge analytics with human-centered insights to give leaders a real-time pulse on culture, productivity and employee well-being. After early adoption by federal agencies and nonprofit partners, Strategy@Work is expanding these tools to state and local governments and mission-driven organizations nationwide.

Native to Washington, D.C. and married to an Air National Guardsman, April is the executive founder of Special Ops Child Watch LLC, and a proud mother of four daughters. With a passion for serving the military community, she’s committed to providing exceptional care and support to ensure the success of military or affiliated events.

Special Ops Child Watch supports military families during meaningful moments by standing up onsite childcare for children of attending event guests from ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Sometimes that means caring for many children or for one family. Every experience is handled with the same level of care and professionalism.

Once all contestants have pitched, their fellow entrepreneurs will vote on their favorite business idea. The top three finalists will earn cash prizes to help grow their businesses!

Today was all about mentorship at DAV Patriot Boot Camp in Salt Lake City! Veteran and military entrepreneurs were paired with experts and business leaders who generously volunteered their time to help guide them toward success. Collaboration was on full display and the energy was palpable! We’re extremely grateful for all our mentors and supporters who make this possible.

Today we’re joined by dozens of mentors for Mentor Madness, a speed-dating style mentor session during which each entrepreneur will be paired with up to eight mentors for one-on-one sessions, where they’ll share their expertise and guidance. In addition, we have the “Capital and Funding Panel” and “Pitch, Ask, Give” with Ray Antonino in the afternoon before unwinding at the veteran-owned Wolfdog Brewing for an evening of networking.
