I have been awake since 3:30 a.m. reading messages, text, post and looking at the photos of NKY Juneteenth Celebration from Saturday.
All I can say is, Thank you God!
Seeing the babies pull in on their bikes just to pick up their sneakers and t-shirts, seeing the extraordinary Honoree’s under one tent, the two babies who graduated from nursing school at such a young age, the bingo games, prizes, the lucky $500 cash winner, we finally expressed our gratitude to Mr. Fermon Knox, Ms. Bertha Moore, Ms. Jessie Moore and Mike Moore for their bravery and the people who poured into the very place where Margaret Garner once walked across the Ohio River on ice trying to make to freedom.
This is Gods work and I am witnessing it come to fruition.
The place where the vision was given to me was prison; a dungeon.
I was hopeless, in such a dark place in my life and broken into so many pieces.
Look at what was birthed while I was in confinement, not comfort.
I am so humbled and grateful.
Thank you extraordinary people, leaders, coaches, teachers, doctors, nurses, community partners, sponsors, volunteers Mr. Fermin Knox and Ms.Jessie Moore (The Ruby Bridges of NKY) for uplifting and inspiring me to do better.
My words cannot describe the impact this experience has on my life.🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️❤️💪🏾

My heart is full of gratitude as I reflect on the success of the 2026 Northern Kentucky Juneteenth Celebration at the Gateway to Freedom in Covington.

Remembering the Past, Rising to the Future

This story was never birthed in comfort—it was birthed in confinement. Today, as I look across Northern Kentucky and see Juneteenth celebrations thriving in multiple cities, my heart is full. It is humbling to know that many who once sat at the table with us were inspired to carry the vision forward into their own communities.

One of the greatest joys is seeing the Juneteenth flag raised and proudly displayed in Elsmere and Covington—a symbol of freedom, progress, and remembrance. What God placed in my spirit years ago has grown far beyond what I could have imagined, and watching that vision manifest throughout Northern Kentucky is truly a blessing.

Covington Independent Public Schools has a new Superintendent who has made history.
She will be attending the biggest Northern Kentucky Juneteenth Celebration on this side of the water.
