Along with all of Adam’s fire department achievements, he was also a founding member of the Notthwest Pa K9 Search and Rescue team, and got to practice his teaching skills on our members and K9s. Happy Retirement to K9 Horus and best wishes to Adam for his ATF Canine Trainer career!

🚨 New Credentialing Alert! 🚨

Big congratulations to our Assistant Chief, Amy Machinski, for adding more specialties (Urban Light Disaster- Live and Recovery, Wilderness) to her already long list of Search & Rescue Instructor credentials (Trailing, Human Remains Detection- Land, Water, Crime Scene) through the International Police Work Dog Organization (IPWDA), our team’s credentialing body.

The list of requirements is extensive, the amount of expertise takes years to gather, the hours of self-study, assisting seminars and classes, and the amount of mentorship that becoming an IPWDA instructor takes is not for the faint of heart.

NWPAK9SAR is so proud and lucky to have Amy’s knowledge to help both the team and the community. Congrats! 🎉
