Erie County Poet Laureate

Erie County Poet Laureate The Erie County Poet Laureate Initiative is overseen by the Erie County Poetry Committee.

Your duties might include reading poetry at selected civic occasions, celebrations, and communal gatherings;
encouraging others to explore their creative writing abilities and inspiring personal expression through poetry. Perhaps collaborating with other artistic groups and encouraging writing by people of all ages and backgrounds. As Laureate you would be required to give a minimum of one public

reading of your own original work during
your tenure and also to develop and implement a community outreach project. You will receive a $3,000
honorarium and a $6,500 approved budget for your community poetry outreach project.

You’re invited! A Celebration of Service for our brother, Councilman Andre Horton.

For nearly 20 years, Andre has continued to put Erie first. Through thick and thin, spirited debates, and personal crises, he’s shown up. Brother Andre has never ceased fighting for education, creating jobs programs, and supporting our youth. Now, as he steps onto the Erie City Council, let’s gather to celebrate his dedicated service to our city.

Join us for hors d’oeuvres and hear from special guests about their plans for Erie’s future.

We appreciate you holding space in your schedule to honor his work and the work yet to come.
