We all had an amazing time at last night's Lafayette Bicentennial Dinner on 4th Street and the expERIEnce Children's Museum! Big thanks to our history actors for bringing us back to 1825 when Lafayette visited this very spot to meet with Erieites and pay tribute to his and our collective role in this nation's history. Thanks to everyone else who attended and made this event possible, your support helped us raise money to continue beautifying and improving Perry Square and the surrounding district.

DID YOU KNOW: The French-born Marquis de Lafayette served under General George Washington in the Revolutionary War (pictured here at Valley Forge) and commanded Continental Army troops in the decisive Siege of Yorktown in 1781, the Revolutionary War's final major battle that secured American independence. After returning to France, Lafayette became a key figure in the French Revolution of 1789 and the July Revolution of 1830 and continues to be celebrated as a hero in both France and the United States. He later returned to America and toured several cities including Erie, Pennsylvania in 1825.

Perry Square Alliance is hosting an exciting, one-time event honoring Lafayette to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of his visit to Erie on June 3rd, 1825. Lafayette dined at 2nd and French Street in a ceremony celebrating his service to the American Revolution. Join us for a special dinner steeped in local and national history with live performances, history actors, and amazing local food on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025. Individual tickets will go on sale April 1, 2025. All proceeds will benefit the Perry Square Alliance and their efforts to beautify Perry Square.

Perry Square Alliance is hosting an exciting, one-time event honoring the Marquee de Lafayette to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of his visit to Erie on June 3rd, 1825. Lafayette dined at 2nd and French Street in a ceremony celebrating his service to the American Revolution. Join us for a special dinner steeped in local and national history with live performances, history actors, and amazing local food on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025. Individual tickets will go on sale April 1, 2025. All proceeds will benefit the Perry Square Alliance and their efforts to beautify Perry Square.

DID YOU KNOW: Lafayette was 67 when he visited Erie during his tour across America. Lafayette was an esteemed guest in America in 1825 due to his service to this country as a Major General in the Revolutionary War under the command of General George Washington. Though he was born a French nobleman, he was drawn to America to support the cause of the Revolution because it reflected his beliefs about equality, freedom, and liberty. Along with visiting Erie, Lafayette toured areas in what would eventually become 24 different US states during his 1824-25 visit.

Take a free ride in a horse-drawn carriage this Friday evening in Perry Square with the Erie Downtown Partnership during the Erie Art Museum Gallery Night! Rides start at 5pm and run until 8pm.

There's another chance to enjoy a free horse carriage ride around Perry Square and see the beautiful holiday lights! Join us this Friday during Gallery Night for free horse carriage rides from 5-8pm in Perry Square and browse holiday vendors, sip hot chocolate, and try ice skating at the Downtown Erie Community Skating Rink.
