We hosted a very fun and informative lunch and learn program for the seniors at the Earl Heck Community Center today. Our guest speaker was long time announcer and voice of the Dayton Dragons, Tom Nichols. Tom shared some interested facts about the history of the Dayton Dragons and their affiliation with the Cincinnati Reds. Brookhaven sponsored this event and provided the seniors with a baseball themed lunch, which included cheeseburgers, coleslaw, baked beans, and of course, Cracker Jacks!

Caring for someone with dementia requires patience, routine, and a focus on preserving the person's dignity and emotional well-being. The most critical steps involve establishing consistent daily habits, ensuring a safe and familiar environment, using calm, simple communication, and preventing caregiver burnout through respite and support networks. The Earl Heck Community Center is teaming up with the Alzheimer's Association to offer free educational support workshops for caregivers which will provide information and tips on how to support and care for someone afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia. The different program topics and dates are listed on the attached flyers.
