☀️🐾 Summer heat is here, and that means hot pavement, scorching asphalt, and dangerously high vehicle temperatures for our pets.

Many people don’t realize that even when the outside temperature feels manageable, the inside of a vehicle can become life-threatening in just minutes. Likewise, asphalt can become hot enough to burn paw pads in seconds.

🙏🐶Please never leave your pet unattended in a vehicle in the heat. Cracked windows and a few minutes are not enough to keep them safe.

Did you know?
🐾 A vehicle’s interior can reach over 100°F in just 30 minutes on a 70°F day.
🐾 Asphalt can reach 125°F–143°F when air temperatures are only in the upper 70s and 80s.
🐾 At 125°F, a dog’s paw pads can suffer burns in as little as 60 seconds.
🐾 Hundreds of dogs die from heat-related causes each year, and countless more require emergency veterinary treatment.

A simple rule: If it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for their paws.

This week’s Wednesday Wags celebrates two lab mix dogs that can go together or split up. They are good either way.
Take a moment to meet Thyme and Rosemary - almost twins, more than likely mother and daughter. These two females are true sweethearts; found as strays and taken into foster care to keep them safe.
Thyme is the silly socialite, at around 3 yrs old, she is in her element around people. She navigates groups very well, always alert for the next opportunity to meet someone new. Caution: she will give you a free kiss if you get too close, she just loves the attention. Want a busy body, here is your gal.
Rosemary is about 5 years old and is more of a home body, enjoying blissful moments in the sun, taking in the world. She is lower energy with a bit of s***k. She loves to meet people, wiggling as you approach. Perfectly fine lounging at your feet.
