The Woodstock Project starts today!

Over the next 18 months, the Friends and the Maryland Park Service will build a largely new 10-mile trail system in the Woodstock Area of the park. The project includes seven bridges, five trailhead kiosks, and five miles of adaptive-spec trail.

In addition, the Maryland Park Service and the Department of General Services will construct a new bridge over the North Branch of the Patapsco River, connecting the Woodstock and McKeldin Areas.

This is the largest natural surface trail project in the history of and will greatly increase access to the park for all users.

Professional trail-building crews will be working in the area. For your safety and theirs, PLEASE respect all trail closures, follow posted signage, and follow instructions from contractors and park personnel at all times.

Thats a wrap on the Patapsco 25k/50k!
This past Saturday, over 300 runners took to the Patapsco trail system for our iconic annual trail running event with our longtime partners at White Oak Running Co.
Thank you to White Oak Running Company, Rathskeller, Maryland State Parks staff, Maryland Department of Natural Resources , and all our amazing volunteers for making the day such a success!

The Patapsco Valley 50K returns this weekend!

Now in its 14th year, this iconic trail run covers some of the most popular sections of our 200-mile trail system. On Saturday, October 24, 350 runners will take on the 25K and 50K courses in the Avalon area of the park.

The run begins at 7:30 a.m. and continues through the afternoon. If you’re visiting the park that day, please share the trail and cheer on the runners. They are strong supporters of Patapsco Valley State Park and the trails we all enjoy.

What an amazing Hangul Day celebration! ✨🌳

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Hangul Day celebration, honoring the Korean alphabet and the culture, creativity, and community it represents. This year was extra special: together, we celebrated the grand opening of the Arirang Trail Loop at Hollofield in Patapsco Valley State Park!

한글과 한글에 담긴 문화, 창의성, 그리고 공동체 정신을 기리는 연례 한글날 행사에 함께해 주신 모든 분께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 올해는 더욱 특별했습니다. 패탭스코 밸리 주립공원 할로필드에서 아리랑 트레일 루프의 개장을 여러분과 함께 축하했기 때문입니다!

It filled our hearts to see so many families, friends, and neighbors gather on the trail. The Arirang Trail Loop is now open to everyone. Come enjoy nature, relax at the meditation pavilion, and appreciate the natural resources we all share.

A huge thank you to our partners, volunteers, performers, and the Maryland Park Service for making it all possible.

National Public Lands Day was the perfect kickoff for the largest trail project in the park’s history.

We appreciate all the support from the community at large as well. Without you all coming out to help, there is no way to make these improvements happen.

With the support of all, we were able to finish the first section of new trail as part of the 10 mile buildout. Many hands make for light work.

The next generation is going strong in all avenues.   Last week Maryland MTB (MICL) brought out middle and high schoolers from eleven teams to learn about how the trails they use to practice and race on   The future leaders of stewardship learned from Patapsco Rangers on the history of the park before getting out with our Trail Captains to improve multi-use trails with tangible work.

Maybe! We are doing something a little different for Cocktails this year.

We are raffling off a Trek Roscoe 7, and no attendance is required! Between now and 11:59pm ET on July 16, you can purchase entires for the raffle. Drawing will be held on the morning of July 17.

All funds go to supporting Patapsco trails.

When we announced that we were improving signage out in the woods with new kiosk, we knew we needed something to put in them.�

Well, maps are important. So we are getting the entire park professionally mapped to make these new kiosk pop. While we appreciate the community maps that have gotten us by for years, it is time to elevate navigation to make it easier for all.

Purple Lizard Maps will be starting soon with the first phase of mapping everything. From there, we will have print and digital maps for all.

You might be wondering, "how can I help?"

(1) Keep showing up to events. It helps us get things like maps and bridges funded.

(2) Tell everyone you know how much Patapsco means to you. Word spreads fast!

(3) Come to Cocktails for Trails on July 16 or become a member. These are also ways to show your support (and one comes with b**r)
