May had some rain, but it was great to see so many folks out weekly for some fun.

The Johnnycake Jolt trail run and Punisher at Pickall mountain bike are a crowd favorite, and we look forward to seeing it again in 2027.

Our trailwork events have been filling up lightening fast this year.

But due to the weather the last several days, we pushed the most recent trailwork day to May 30 in the Hilton Area.

A little digging in the park goes A LONG way.

TONIGHTS EVENT IS POSTPONED!

We are disappointed as well. But after watching the forecast closely with park management, we have watched severe thunderstorms develop for the 5 to 8pm window.

Safety is our top priority with our events and we are not willing to gamble with the cards we have been dealt. This isn’t the casino.

We will be in touch with everyone registered shortly with rain date options and next steps soon.

Stay dry and folks, take note. We are still weather watching for tomorrow!

We are always working to make the experience in the valley better for all who love the park. We know part of that is connecting trails and valley ridges.

That is why we are excited to let you all know that, beyond just maintaining and constructing natural surface trails, we have seven new bridges in the works! These connectors will improve trail user experience by avoiding weird routes to get from point A to point B. More importantly, they will help to protect from erosion and other destructive effects.

These have been approved and are funded by Friends - Coming soonish!

Bad news: we have to postpone tonight’s Johnnycake Jolt to the rain date on June 3. Park Service and our Trail Captains have made the call based on the current rain totals and the forecast.

Good news: we have a rain date! And another week for you all to sign up. We’ll start exploring plan B just in case May is a rainy one.

For our Punisher at Pickall folks, standby. We’ll see what Mother Nature brings today before making the call for tomorrow.

We are in our run club era ✨

Pints for Patapsco got things kicked off, but May brings the Johnnycake Jolt back for yet another year of weekday running in the park.

will be in attendance to hang out and provide some knowledge on trail running shoes (leave those marathon super carbon shoes at home!)

Details are on our calendar (link in bio). Will we see you Wednesdays this month?

Trailbuilding Crossfit lowkey sounds catchy. Watching deadlift a huge rock into place was pretty nuts. We will make sure to bolster our gym work with that inspiration! Thankfully, our friends at showed us how the rest of us mortals can help get some fresh trails into place. Nothing a little elbow grease and desire can’t make work. This past weekend was great as we continued to work on a new trail in the Woodstock area. While a mile of new trail doesn’t sound like a lot, it actually is! Earlier this year, we awarded a grant to build 10 miles of new trails in the Woodstock area. This section of trail helps cover the grant admin side of things. You all showing up shows that THIS IS WHAT THE COMMUNITY WANTS!So keep showing up. In the thick of it, your 10 feet of trail might seem small. But in the big picture, your 10 feet is closer to 100 feet.

…or more, we are outdoors folks, not mathematicians. And if new trail isn’t your thing, Maryland Park Service led the way with an invasive plant removal. A lot easier than swinging a tool, but still equally impactful.Want to know about the next trailwork day?
