The Walworth County Deputy Sheriff's Association (WCDSA) recognized Taiya Kolb, who was selected as the 2025 recipient of the Jeff Patek Memorial Scholarship. Taiya was a 2025 graduate of Whitewater High School and is currently attending UW-Stevens Point, majoring in Wildlife Ecology/Management with a minor in Conservation Law Enforcement.

The WCDSA established the Jeff Patek Memorial Scholarship to offer financial assistance to individuals interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement or a Law Enforcement-related field. Jeff Patek passed away on June 23, 2016, after a strong and courageous fight against cancer. Jeff graduated from Big Foot High School in 1985 and graduated from UW-Platteville in 1989. Jeff began his law enforcement career with the Town of Delavan Police Department where he worked till 1994, when he became employed by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. Jeff served the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years, was a Sergeant assigned to the Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit and Commander of the SWAT team.

With the holiday season approaching quickly, we're looking back at our annual Golf Fore Kids fundraiser that occurred earlier this fall, which raised a large portion of the funds for our Holiday Charitable events.

Special thanks to all of the businesses or residents who sponsored a golf hole, provided raffle prizes, or put together a team of golfers to help us raise funds. We can't do it without you.

In the next two weeks, we will share more with what else is happening with the Holiday Charitable Events, but we just want to extend another big THANK YOU to the community.

Please save the date for our next annual Golf Outing, which will be on Friday, September 11th, 2026. Happy Holidays!

Over the course of the past two months, the Walworth County Deputy Sheriff's Association presented scholarships to nine recipients. These scholarships were awarded to these individuals based on high academic achievements and their involvement in the community. We want to extend a congratulations to Falyn Krahn, Molly Brauer, Isabel Kutcha, Makayla Bazeley, Brett Kitzmiller, Ella Logtermen, Emily Schmidt, Ella Spear and Marcela Torres!

We have just over FIVE WEEKS left until our annual Golf "Fore" Kids Fundraising Event at the Evergreen Golf Club in Elkhorn, and we are still looking for your help with golfers, hole sponsors, and raffle donations!
If you enjoy a game of golf, like a good fish fry with potato pancakes, and want to help a good cause, we'd love to see you there! The weather isn't so hot this time of year, and it's a perfect time to golf! Golfer registration must be received by Friday, August 29th, so don't wait too long to sign up! Lindsay was a 2024 graduate of Delavan-Darien High School and is currently attending Blackhawk Technical College pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.

The WCDSA established the Jeff Patek Memorial Scholarship to offer financial assistance to individuals interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement or Law Enforcement related field. Happy holidays! We at the Walworth County Deputy Sheriff's Association wanted to extend a very big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our fundraising events this year.
Your help and donations made it possible for a $4000 donation to the Tree House Child and Family Center for assisting with their cold weather clothing and bedding needs. (Pictured below is WCDSA Treasurer Mike Krahn, and the Program Director for the Tree House - Holiday Elves program, Kayla Lauderdale.
The remaining donated funds were used to purchase board games to promote family time together, along with other toys and gifts to fill needs that were presented.
Great job Kayla, and the Tree House staff, for stepping up and for helping those who need it!
For everyone else, business and individuals who pitched in at events throughout the year, we appreciate you ALL! Have a happy holidays, and we hope to see you all again next year!

During the holidays, some years are harder for some than for others.
Every year, our Deputy Sheriff's Association participates in a toy drive and fundraising event in partnership with the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, where toys are collected for local children in need during the holidays. Also, raffle prizes are donated from many generous community partners, and the raffle funds raised then go towards purchasing remaining toys for the annual toy drive, and towards scholarships for graduating high school seniors in the area who meet the WCDSA scholarship requirements. This year, raffle proceeds will also be going towards children's bedding needs that have been brought to our attention through the Tree House Child and Family Center's staff. Our toy drive donations this year are also then turned over to the Tree House Center to assist with their Holiday Elf toy drive.
Our volunteers were floored when they saw everyone arriving at the Grand Geneva for the Grand Illumination ceremony with toy donations in hand. Everyone had a helping spirit, and we got to see lots of people looking to help those who might need an extra bit of help this season. Young children look at toys going into the toy donation bins, and they are learning the lesson that some other people may need that toy more than they do. They also get to see other people sacrificing time, money, and efforts to help wherever they can.
We are thankful that many elementary, middle and high schools have holiday drives for local families in need, and we don't want to take away and potential donations from their toy, coat or food drives. We would ask that if you have children who attend these schools, to look for your local school's holiday drives if you are wanting to help this season.
If you don't have a local school drive and you are still wanting to help this season, feel free to partner with us! Reach out to the Tree House Center to help with their Toy Drive, who will wtill be collecting toy donations until December 10th. Each year there are hundreds of families that reach out for some assistance.

This Sunday, November 24th, please join us for the 30th Annual Illumination Ceremony at the Grand Geneva Resort! This year the Deputy Sheriff's Association will be selling raffle tickets to raise money to assist the Walworth County Treehouse in purchasing bedding needs for families in Walworth County. We will also be accepting toy donations to assist with the Treehouse's toy drive for children in need this season.
The event starts at 4:30 pm, and the tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm. The event includes activities for kids, pictures with Santa, a fireworks show, and more!
