This past weekend was another GREAT time of wonderful people and businesses coming together to our Annual Golf Fore Kids Fundraiser for our yearly charitable events. This year fell on the 25th anniversary of 9/11/2001, and a special performance of Taps was performed along with a moment of silence prior to the sh***un start. The weather was a gorgeous and sunny 80 degrees, and we couldn't have asked for a better day!

We are only two weeks away from our annual Golf Fore Kids fundraising event! So far we've got a lot of local support for sponsoring a hole at the event, and we still have a few holes left that are available for a $100 sponsorship!

Each year, the local community partners with the Walworth County Deputy Sheriff's Association to honor and support local high school seniors who exhibit exemplary traits inside the classroom and outside of the classroom. These seniors will all be enrolling in four year universities, and we wish them all the best of luck and congratulations!

After reviewing the scholarship applications, the following winners have been chosen for the 2026 Walworth County Deputy Sheriff's Association General Scholarship:

Claire Patek - Big Foot High School graduate and Lakeland University freshman for Nursing
Kaia Jones - Whitewater High School graduate and UW-Madison freshman for Speech Language Pathology
Megan Meier - Elkhorn High School graduate and Carroll University freshman for Physical Therapy
Emily Koehn - WI School for the Deaf graduate and Galludet University freshman for Education/Teaching.
Joel Janssen - Delavan Darien High School graduate and UW-Madison freshman for Business Analytics.

Also, we've attached a flyer and registration form for anyone who would prefer to mail in a registration form and check to our Elkhorn mailing address.

Lastly, we've attached a QR code to this post for anyone wary of clicking links, which will also take you to our BirdEase website for the event.

We appreciate everyone's help every year, and we would LOVE to see you come out and have lunch, 18 holes of golf (cart included) and a classic Wisconsin Fish Fry Dinner (along with potato pancakes and other sides) included with your registration cost. If you don't have a team, it's NO PROBLEM! We'll add you on to another team that needs someone, and you'll meet some new fun friends!

This year's event will be held on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks, and we will also be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America! Special hole events in relation to these two anniversaries will be encountered during the 18 holes of golf.

The Walworth County Deputy Sheriff's Association (WCDSA) recognized Taiya Kolb, who was selected as the 2025 recipient of the Jeff Patek Memorial Scholarship. Taiya was a 2025 graduate of Whitewater High School and is currently attending UW-Stevens Point, majoring in Wildlife Ecology/Management with a minor in Conservation Law Enforcement.

The WCDSA established the Jeff Patek Memorial Scholarship to offer financial assistance to individuals interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement or a Law Enforcement-related field. Jeff Patek passed away on June 23, 2016, after a strong and courageous fight against cancer. Jeff graduated from Big Foot High School in 1985 and graduated from UW-Platteville in 1989. Jeff began his law enforcement career with the Town of Delavan Police Department where he worked till 1994, when he became employed by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. Jeff served the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years, was a Sergeant assigned to the Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit and Commander of the SWAT team.

With the holiday season approaching quickly, we're looking back at our annual Golf Fore Kids fundraiser that occurred earlier this fall, which raised a large portion of the funds for our Holiday Charitable events.

Special thanks to all of the businesses or residents who sponsored a golf hole, provided raffle prizes, or put together a team of golfers to help us raise funds. We can't do it without you.

In the next two weeks, we will share more with what else is happening with the Holiday Charitable Events, but we just want to extend another big THANK YOU to the community.
