A 501c3 tax-exempt organization with the mission of supporting the Hardin County Animal Shelter. We are a 501c3 public charity!

Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter was formed in January 2014 to support the shelter by providing materials/equipment that is outside of the shelter's budget, organize and run adoption specials throughout each month and to assist the shelter in educating the community about responsible pet ownership. Donations can be made to Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter and 100% of the funds will be used to fulfill our mission. We have no paid employees, just volunteers willing to work for the pets of our county. All donations to our group are tax-exempt!

Y’all know we love Fridays! We take part in a rescue transport that moves dogs from the higher kill south to fosters and forevers in the northern US and Canada. *These dogs already have rescue placements/homes at the end of their ride and are not adoptable locally. They will also never be in a shelter again ❤️

We need more drivers! If you’re available occasionally on Fridays 2-6pmish, have a good driving record and can do moderate lifting/dog handling, please send us a message here and we’ll get you more details.

🐾 What Is Our Adoption Process?

Adopting your new best friend is easy!

Come Visit Us! Stop by Hardin County Animal Care & Control Monday through Saturday, 12 PM–4 PM, to meet our adoptable animals.

Find Your Perfect Match! Take your time getting to know the animals and decide which one is the best fit for you and your family.

Complete an Adoption Application. Once you've found your match, we'll have you fill out an adoption application. We'll process it through our shelter software.

Take Your New Best Friend Home! As long as your chosen pet is already spayed or neutered, they can usually go home with you the same day!

It's that simple! Your new best friend could be waiting for you at Hardin County Animal Shelter. We can't wait to help you find your perfect match! ❤️🐾
