🕊️ Pathways to Peace and Justice

Last Saturday approximately 25 people from several ANE congregations gathered at Lancaster Church of the Brethren for Pathways to Peace and Justice, an event organized by the District Peace & Justice Committee.

Participants had the opportunity to share short presentations about how their congregations are working for peace and justice in their neighborhoods and enjoyed fellowship over lunch.

Several attendees commented that they were inspired to discover the diverse ways God is working through ANE congregations in their unique contexts! Some takeaways included the importance of listening to what the surrounding community wants and needs, seeing what is already happening, sharing space, and avoiding the duplication of services.

It was a meaningful and joyful day of learning from and encouraging one another.

A big thank-you to everyone who helped make the event possible! Keep an eye out for a similar opportunity for congregations in ANE East in the future.

Last Tuesday, 75 older adults from all over the ANE District gathered at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren for a special Coffee House planned by the District Older Adult Committee. The Coffee House featured fellowship, entertainment, coffee, cookies, and a lot of fun!

The event featured a “meet and greet” as part of the program. After a few announcements and nurturing prayer, those in attendance were asked to utilize the next 15 minutes to get to know at least two or more folks from other congregations. As one person from Ephrata commented, “By spending most of our time with our own congregations, it is easy to forget that we should also be faithfully connected to those in the wider district church community!”

After the “meet and greet,” the program then focused on entertainment. Peggy Keller, a professional older adult singer and song stylist from Ephrata, provided the audience with a concert of selected songs that were not only well known, but also reflective of several styles and types. The appreciative audience provided Peggy with a standing ovation!

Many thanks to all who attended and helped organize this joyful annual event! “The more we get together, the happier we will be!”
