Our Window of Opportunity Annual Appeal is underway, and this is the kind of story it exists for.
A window opened for Jaden, and his whole world changed.
For many children growing up in institutions, the world can be painfully small. An institution can provide care. But it cannot replace the freedom, belonging, and possibilities of family.
โJaden was the first child adopted from his orphanage in more than ten years,โ says his mom, Jenn. โI don't know how that window opened, but I'm grateful it did.โ
Changing adoption laws had placed Jenn and Philip on a seemingly impossible timeline. They knew Jaden was their son, but they needed to raise the adoption fees, and quickly. Brittany's Hope stepped into their journey with hope, support, and a way for their village to help bring Jaden home.
Before coming home, Jaden rarely left his place in a row of cribs. Today he's an active wheelchair user, playing soccer in the alley, scoring goals for his sled hockey team, and eagerly soaking up every new opportunity.
โHe is confident and enthusiastic because he is deeply loved,โ Jenn says.
