Congratulations to new WCOEP President Jennifer Favor Howell and her new Executive Board: President-Elect Pema Garcia, 2nd VP J’me Phelps, 3rd VP Lynn Cordova, Recording Secretary Denise Daniel, Corresponding Secretary Milly Nabhan, Treasurer Jeri Vines, Assistant Treasurer Frieda Voeks. Congratulations also go out to new At-Large Board Members installed: Ivette Champion, Sonnie Gavin, Jennie Larder, Kim LaVelle, Jean Adams, and Letty Moreno Brown. The Officer Installation was beautiful! Thank you to Frieda Voeks and Rhoda Tillman for organizing and decorating the event.

We are working with a few other organizations to bring this film to El Paso for the Plaza Film Festival since one of the 6 women featured is Olga Kohlberg, one of the founders of WCOEP, a past president, and the driving force behind building our historic clubhouse.

Sara Long and I were overwhelmed by the gorgeous awards we were given and sincere thanks from the CISD Board Members and Superintendent. We are so glad The Woman’s Club was able to provide scholarships to 9 deserving student musicians and a wonderful banquet to showcase their talent and celebrate with their families. Kudos to the entire Fine Arts Initiative Music Scholarship Committee- Chair Jennifer Howell, Lynn Cordova, Frieda Voeks, Rhoda Tillman, Jennie Larder, and Fay LaFon for making this happen for CISD seniors.

With great sadness, a great friend and supporter of the WCOEP passed peacefully early this morning. Rest in peace, Hal Marcus. Your art, your legacy, and your friendship will be long remembered. Condolences to all Hal’s family and friends.
