That inner voice might say: "I'm not good enough." "I'll mess up." "People will judge me."

Just as Van Gogh encouraged people to paint anyway, the key to becoming a stronger speaker is to speak anyway.

Every opportunity taken to speak in front of people helps quiet that voice and build confidence. What is one thing you'd do if fear wasn't holding you back?

We have been named a "Distinguished" club, which signifies that we are meeting some lofty goals. Many clubs can't get people to act as officers, or can't fill the agenda, etc. We have fun full meetings, steady guest attendance, good attendance at conferences and participation in contests. I love our members and hope some who haven't been able to attend can come back if and when life lets them, but I'm hoping we add some new members this year, too - three cheers for Edmonds Toastmasters!

Just saw a replay of the 1990’s game where Ken Griffey Jr and his dad , Ken Griffey Sr, hit back to back home runs for the Mariners -such a historic moment! And a moment that brings tears to my eyes as I remember my dad. He’s been gone almost 4 decades , but still miss him.
We didn’t share baseball -neither of us had athletic skills we shared a love of nature, hulking and camping. I remember every summer taking off for two weeks of camping.🙂

What I miss most is the stories I didn’t get to hear because an early stroke that cut his speaking short:( And I know he was a speaker because he wea president of the local Credit Union -he would speak at their annual banquets while us kids were stuck in the back playing bingo -for Hershey Bars.

Maybe it’s no surprise I became a Toastmaster?:)

Edmonds Toastmasters is now at 18 members! Our sister club, Confidence Builders, is now at 12 members! That is the most they have had in quite a while. Edmonds Toastmasters is taking time off until Friday, January 9. Confidence Builders will be taking this Tuesday, December 23 off for the lead up to Christmas, then they will be back via Zoom on the 30th, and then back in person for the New Year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all :)
