If there's controversy, there's controversy. Nothing worthwhile ever happened without overcoming friction. Thankfully, there are bold voices out there "telling it like it is". We all want net zero, but if you do the math, there's no practical way to get there without nuclear.
So... how might we get there from here?

Unfortunately, outdated regulations are impeding much-needed innovation to fight climate change. Time is running short.

Do you know people who put up walls when you mention climate change? Try this.

Set aside all of the talk about climate change for a sec. Riddle me this. The only reason that we fight wars in the Middle East and the horrific regimes there have so much money is because the world runs on oil.

If we move to nuclear, hydro, geothermal, wind, and solar then demand for crude will plummet and corrupt petroarchy regimes will collapse like the Soviet Union did when gas prices plunged.

Moving to power sources less reliant on a daily stream of raw materials to keep them running removes the source of conflict.

Yes, it also reduces pollution of all kinds but for some reason that’s a loaded topic 🙄.

If you want more peace and fewer trillions wasted on wars, push for a move away from fossil fuels.

So, can we all stop making up reasons to yell at each other and just do it?

Hydro usually means dams and all of the second order problems that dams imply. Check out this clever alternative for small scale hydro.

A substitute version of SB 6203, the carbon tax proposal championed by Governor Inslee, passed

Two big announcements in one day! Citizen activists were absolutely pivotal in stopping the construction of several proposed coal export terminals, and Longview... was the last domino left to fall.

Congratulations, and a big Thank You to all of you who joined us and the Power Past Coal coalition!

A big blow to Big Coal: The Washington Department of Ecology denies a key water quality permit to builders of the proposed Millennium Bulk Terminals coal export terminal in Longview. It would be the largest coal export facility in North America with a capacity of 44 million tons a year.

Solar PV does work in Edmonds. The screen capture below is from one of our members' home solar arrays showing output for the past week. 50 kW-hr each day! (9.6kW rated array)
We will be posting more shortly, as it seems that SNOPUD is moving to eliminate most solar incentive programs - and we'd like to hear your thoughts!
