InterCommunity staff were honored to join our friends and partners over at the Root Center for Advanced Recovery for their annual Remembrance Ceremony. Together, we honored and remembered those lost to overdose, and offered support and hope to those struggling with substance use disorder or on the path to recovery. Today and beyond, we reflect deeply on those we have lost to overdose and aim to uplift those struggling by reminding them that they are not alone. and agencies like the Root Center, InterCommunity, and others across the state are here to help.๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸŽจ APPLY NOW: InterCommunity Gallery is accepting submissions for its next exhibit, due by September 7th!

E.L.I.T.E. invites artists to explore the fractures, evolutions, and realities that shape our human condition. Juried by legendary Hartford artist Miguel Jose Matos, this exhibition seeks bold, emotionally resonant, and thought-provoking contemporary artwork that confronts the spaces between survival and reinvention. ๐Ÿฆโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿฆ‹

Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly through a personal, social, psychological, political, spiritual, or cultural lens. This exhibition welcomes work that examines resilience without romanticizing struggle, transformation without erasing pain, and emergence as both a fragile process and the most powerful act. Whether abstract or representational, intimate or confrontational, polished or raw, submitted works should strive to create meaningful dialogue and human connection while remaining accessible to a broad public audience. All art mediums are accepted.
