Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering at the University of Connecticut, will receive this year's Leadership and Advocacy Award at our annual gala in recognition of his unwavering dedication to increasing access for community health and supporting high-quality healthcare for everyone.๐
Professor Sir Cato T. Laurencin is a nationally and internationally recognized physician, scientist, engineer, and advocate for health justice. As University Professor and CEO of The Cato T. Laurencin Institute at UConn, Dr. Laurencin has dedicated his career to advancing medicine, addressing racial and ethnic health disparities, and creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders. A pioneer in Regenerative Engineering, he is the first surgeon in history elected to the National Academy of Medicine, National Academy of Engineering, and National Academy of Sciences. His extraordinary contributions have earned numerous national and international honors, including the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. His remarkable efforts and achievements illustrate his commitment to creating a healthier, more just future for all.
