Recorder Society of Long Island

Recorder Society of Long Island This group of music-loving recorder players of all levels, meets monthly, Sept. thru May. We gather around 9:30 am and playing begins at 10 am.

The Recorder Society of Long Island's (RSLI) playing meetings are usually held on the 2nd Saturday of the month, September through May. These sessions are directed by some of the finest recorder and early music professionals in the region. After a break for coffee, conversation and treats (often home baked) around 11:15, playing resumes and continues until 12:30 pm. For newbies and players inexper

ienced with group playing situations, we have developed an excellent mentor program which teams players up with a "buddy" RSLI member for the day. It promotes confidence and new friendships alike. We are always happy to welcome new members, so bring your recorders, music stand, pencil, and a coffee mug and come join us. Your first meeting is 100% FREE. Please go to our website http://rsli.info/ for detailed membership information and application forms. Hope to make music with you very soon!

RSLI took on Amherst Early Music’s City Recorder workshop in NYC this weekend. Our own Rachel Begley was on the faculty. As students, we explored works by DuFay, Machaut, Bach, Handel and more; there were classes in 20th century recorder music and music of the Ottoman Empire. It was a challenging and wonderful weekend!!
