We're thrilled to share that The John & Alice Coltrane Home has been awarded a 2026 SCR Community Arts Grant!

This funding will support "John Coltrane at 100: The Coltrane Legacy," a two-part community series celebrating John Coltrane's centennial right here on Long Island, where he and his family made their home.

This October, we'll partner with Jazz Connections at St. John's Church in Huntington for a special evening featuring an inspiring talk by Jeff Lederer and a performance by Sam Dillon and Quartet. In November, we'll present a special centennial edition of our annual A Force For Good Day at the Half Hollow Hills Community Library in Dix Hills, where our Coltrane Home Ensemble will perform alongside outstanding high school student musicians selected through auditions.

We're deeply grateful to our community partners—St. John's Church, Half Hollow Hills Community Library, Jazz Connections at St. John's, SCMEA, and the many music educators, artists, volunteers, and supporters who continue to believe in our mission.

Special thanks to the Huntington Arts Council and the grant review panel for investing in arts, education, and cultural preservation in our community.

🎷 Calling All Young Jazz Musicians! 🎶

The John & Alice Coltrane Home is looking for talented high school-aged jazz musicians and vocalists to perform as part of our Third Annual Force For Good Day on Saturday, November 14, a special celebration of John Coltrane's Centennial.

We're especially hoping to connect with young Black musicians to help celebrate the legacy of John and Alice Coltrane, who made their home right here in Dix Hills.

If you know a student who loves jazz and would be interested in auditioning for this unique opportunity to perform alongside professional musicians, we'd love to hear from them!
